What a first album!

Also - some of the best Zappa stuff is from live recordings.
He would also take intrument tracks from live recordings and build studio tracks around them especially if he like a particular solo or performance.

Also I think Radiohead's live album is better than a lot of their studio albums.

Tom on vinyl is near impossible to find, at least here in Liverpool. Just buy the CD.

Wow, there are a lot of live albums I like. Can't think of one I own that I have a problem with really, aside from Love You Live by the Stones, which has 3 sides of the most awful 70s stadium rock you'll ever hear and one absolutely dazzling side, the El Mocambo side, of great club band rock.

the doors alive she cried is real hit or miss

should have been a double album

GREAT live album. Wish I owned it.

Number Girl have lots of great live albums. Even more distorted and better sounding than any of their full lengths.

My favorite is a boot called Nasty Music by the Stones. Covers the 72 American and 73 European tours.

Next would probably be some VU boots.

Do they not make it anymore or something? I got my copy in a Zavvi clearance sale for about £5.

Seconded, the record is filled with boring guitar solos.

Yes, the live side of Ummagumma is brilliant.

I best live album is Live at the Old Waldorf by Television. Recorded in 1978. I challenge you to find any that sounds/is better.

i believe that this is not a live album but a studio album made to sound live. i think he brought people to the studio to be like audiance members.
