Emos are easily mocked but in the big scheme of social menaces they hardly figure that highly. I have an emo couple as neighbours, and they're extremely nice. Certainly more pleasant than other neighbours I've had in the past.

I agree with Melly's point above that, when you hear about basically decent people being kicked to death simply because of the way they dress, we should be supporting a sub-culture that is certainly more open-minded than a culture that literally seems to want to see them dead.

I have a sneaking feeling that a number of the people here that have the biggest problem with Emos, aren't that far removed from them themselves.

And yes, some of them do look rather silly. But then again, a lot of them look fairly brilliant to my eyes as well:

I don't have a problem with them at all, I just think they embarass themselves. Then again, I'm sure we all somewhat embarassed ourselves fashionably at 14-years-old.

Fair enough. I tend to get a little defensive about this. I work at a university where there are lots of emo types, and I can honestly say that if I only had to deal with their issues, my day's work would be a helluva lot easier than it is. People should take a closer look around them, at the scumbags that dominate wherever it is they live before picking on emos, or whatever it is they're called these days.

You should see some of the feral kids that hang around near Melly Towers. I'd FAR rather have Emo Kids in my neighbours than these useless fuckwitted cunts. Also, at least Emo Kids don't go around dealing drugs literally on my doorstep! :mad:

EDIT - Agree w/demonrail on the point of bullying - "Ooh, it's OK for us to pick on emos, 'cos we're so kewl and not goths at all, and we can take out our inadequacies on them, bro.". For those who think like this - Fuck You.

In my experience, "emo kids" are no better or worse than anyone else. They just look sillier.

Though they can dress however they want... and Russia is sillier than they are as evidence by this news article.
