I don't recall ever watching nor caring a single bit about the Olympics.

I love the Olympics. I love the competition. I lok forward to the winter and summer olympics with glee.
i hate the way the USA covers the olympics. they do not just show the entire contests, they show highlights of american athletes and their "back story" to make you root for the ones they already know will win, you know? (it is on sever tape delay)
I hate it
it pisses me off no end,.
I also hate how the american networks cover the ceremo nies. instead of long shots from far away to let the viewer see the spectacle they have quick cut and zooms on individual performers whose individual performance is POINTLESS TO WATCh without the context of everything surrounding it! fuck I hate it!

yeah. and all you said afterwards. the looking forward with glee (came before)-- i don't do that.

The closest I got to seeing the opening ceremony was project runway's challenge where they had to design opening ceremony sportswear.

Sports are boring, and I think the Olympics are too, but I watch some of the events. Mostly because it is on an every-four-year cycle, and that takes out a lot of the boring factor.

I dig Olympics parties. Call over friends, put out beers, snacks, maybe bar-b-que, and whatever while having the Olympics in the background. Can't imagine watching it with intent.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 08.08.2008 03:00 PM

I'm not watching. I just don't care about any of the sports they play. I'm more of a winter Olympics type of guy.

viewtiful_alan 08.08.2008 03:05 PM

Every year I think I will be excited by the olympics or that it will be interesting... and every year I just get kind of bored.

viewtiful_alan 08.08.2008 03:11 PM

What channel's coverage would you watch should I decide to tune in?

this season of project runway is boring. there's no talent. what was jennifer thinking with that design?

i agree with rob on how they show the backstories. the guy they've picked to do gymnastics commentary loves throwing in little tidbits like "she loves- GASP- double cheeseburgers!" instead of doing any analysis of the routine. he does every single gymnastics competition that gets televised. and i know know right now because the world champ is on the us team there will be barely any coverage of other teams.

that's my rant.

viewtiful_alan 08.08.2008 03:32 PM
