Typical white, jewish, suburbian town-that's-technically-a-village.

Pro:
-Good schools
-Quiet
-Very close to the city

Con:
-Disappointing lack of music stores, book stores, coffee shops.
-Being unable to tell anyone were I live and instead respond to being asked by saying "Westchester" if asked further I say "Right next to White Plains." People are very judgemental when they actually find out were I live.
-People here are all very similar, JAPs, and if someone isn't they think that they're super special for being so COOL and DIFFERENT but shop at Hot Topic.

Oh, forgot to mention, Beyonce and Jay-Z got their marriage license here and are building a house a half a mile away from me. Not sure which category to put that in...

not related to this thread, but mr !@#$%!, did you see that i solved the model mystery in my b-day thread?

Pros: I'm sure I'm well protected from trouble-making minorities by all the pistol-packing pro-gun-ownership Jimmy Bobs riding around in their Ford F-150s

Cons: See above

Yeah, well, we are not without our problems. But luckily for us we have the New York Times to cover them...

my favorite part: "One set of parents, summoned by the principal to pick up their intoxicated son, sent the housekeeper instead. And after the punishments were meted out, a few parents complained that suspensions would mar their children's college transcripts."

Yeah, that's my town, pretty much.

Hahaha, I've been to Westchester
My friend dates a girl named Liz from Westchester
They met at school (Tulane aka JEWlane)

It's very similar to where we live here in Houston
Except that the "super-hip-cool" parts of Houston is a 10-20 min drive away

Nice size town with a small town feel.
Best BBQ crabs in the state / wonderful locally owned restaurants.
Traffic isn't bad at all.
Great jobs and next to no recession.

The Bad

Hot Hot Hot, but no snow ever. Few (maybe five) are the days the temp drops below freezing......and this is usually for only a few hours.
Most of the concerts played around here are country.
Hurricanes

The Ugly

The humidity......and humidity should never be confused with the Hot Hot Heat. For those who don't what humidity is......you hang a wet towel outside and the 95' sun is beating down on it and the towel never dries out......this is humidity. Now for those of us who live here year around, humidity is your friend as it helps keep you cool : )

so man having these guys as neighbors is it good, bad, or ugly?

EMMAh 08.20.2008 05:41 PM

I'd like them for neighbors. Me and Bobby would be best buds.

I live in the Mossley Hill area of Liverpool, which is Liverpool south. Basically a group of houses gathered around a hill. A Manor house sits atop the hill and the grounds are always open so I walk my dog there. It's a sort of old-people jewish neighbourhood. Quiet and leafy. As suburban as it gets in Liverpool. I'm lucky to live here- I live in a flat above a café on the main stretch of shops so its really cheap compared to mortgages people are paying on their huge houses literally next door.
