i have headphones on constantly, only time i dont really listen to anything is when im playing music, watching dvds, or sleeping (but sometimes i pass out while listening to music)

Drinking's an option.

Another is lying down on a couch or bed and closing your eyes. This is especially nice for headphones listening.

Still another, study the cover art and liner notes etc.

Usually I just listen.
