I use it from time to time.

I always use it. Very good when looking up bands.

Пятхъдесят Шест 06.12.2006 07:15 PM

Wiki is worth more than just looking up bands. AllMusic is better at it anyway.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.12.2006 07:17 PM

I use it, and I sometimes edit entries too. I noted that Jon King plays percussion as well as melodica.

Indispensible. Without it, I'd probably wouldn't pass most of my modules... :P

!@#$%! 06.12.2006 07:38 PM

it's useful sometimes; however, some companies use it to spam & promote their shit products. that suxxxx.

I enjoy it greatly. I use it for many things.

nomadicfollower 06.12.2006 07:46 PM

I use it a good bit.

golden child 06.12.2006 08:00 PM

yeah

alyasa 06.12.2006 08:01 PM

It's totally accepted by my school as a valid source of information...

It's good for certain things, but not everything. I personally think it's a horrible website to get info on bands. It's pretty good for musical eras and terms and stuff, but not bands. I use the official websites. It is addicting, though.

I don't think I've read an essay or heard a speech, which required references, at my college that didn't include it as a reference. For this reason I never cite it. Also, by definition of the word "wiki" couldn't it all potentially be wrong? Does anyone moniter it? If so, who, and can we trust them?

Exactly. You could search "No-wave" and come back with a bunch of good bands. Wiki is awesome.

qprogeny79 06.13.2006 12:09 AM

yeah, they do monitor it . . . you could create a node on yourself now but they'd likely take it down within a week because it lacks encyclopedic value. they do other things too . . . ever see those neutrality disclaimers?

at any rate, i use it a ton. i was screwing around looking up local tv affiliates across the country just a bit ago . . . for whatever reason local news in other places intrigues me. i think i associate it with traveling.
