I think they suck
It's exactly like MGMT, they have what, one decent song on the album and the rest is all super flat, super boring, super forgettable.

Glice 01.15.2009 01:32 PM

I just listened to White Winter Hymnal. Shite, but that's a fucking great drum sound. Which reminds me, I really need to stop kicking about with producers.

Decayed Rhapsody 01.15.2009 02:09 PM

I don't much like them either, I tried. It's a crime that someone like Ben Chasny doesn't get the kind of exposure they're getting.

FOR REAL!!

atsonicpark 01.15.2009 02:44 PM

Yep.

Truly talented, unique musicians ... well, this goes with any kind of art really ... but no one gives a fuck about that, they just want safe and easy bullshit to chew on. But I think this shit tastes awful. Fuck Fox McCloud.

I don't get how anyone can compare FF with Six Organs, but anyway yes of course, he's so much more singular.

atsonicpark 01.15.2009 02:59 PM

I don't think he's comparing, he's saying "Why isn't [musician A] popular when they're so much more unique, consistent, talented, hell maybe even CATCHY compared to [musician F]?"

exactly

demonrail666 01.15.2009 03:11 PM

There's a worrying sense of Christian campfire singalongs about them.

Unrelated to anything on this thread: is 'faff' the same as 'fraff'? there used to be a band about at the time of britpop called Fraff, that's why i'm asking. I'm not sure, I read a somewhere it's south london slang for 'messing around'.

dionysusundone 01.15.2009 03:21 PM

I enjoy them, just super mellow enjoyable singer songwriter whatever. Nothing great but not bad..

Green Magnesium 01.15.2009 03:49 PM

They have beards, like Iron & Wine and Will Oldham (two more severely mediocre artists).

sarramkrop 01.15.2009 04:05 PM

Too right Iron & Wine sucks. Will Oldham solo often bores me too.

_slavo_ 01.15.2009 04:14 PM

I have a soft spot for Iron&Wine. Maybe because I bought one of his records back in the days when I had no many to waste.

Faff does sort of mean 'messing around', but not in an irresponsible way, more a sort of doing something in an overfussy but ultimately not very productive way. I've never heard of the word 'Fraff' though. It sounds vaguely like a type of coffee.

I see we're finding new ironic ways to hate.

I think everything except Our Endless Numbered Days sucks. That record is great though.
