Haha. I just couldn't think of a generic term for a small fm transmitter that hooks up mp3s to your car's stereo system. I have a cheap chinese one my sister gave me for Christmas.
|
hahaha. nice.
I still rock the old fake-cassette-with-cable-coming-out-of-it plugged into my PSP. Which actually sounds pretty fucking good believe it or not. |

music? campfire? good food? drugs and alcohol? some of those silly 'trust and bonding' games? |
Get some good bonding time and then get to see how eachother thinks while you talk about ways to get rid of the dead hobo's body!
|
Do drugs. Visit local stops on the way.

And in reference to the topic, I'm actually not sure. I mean one-day trips just kind of fall into place, but multiple-day things are tough. There will probably be some boring parts, but it depends on the people and dynamics.
Games, books, books of games. Alcohol and drugs (but not for the driver, you rebel bastards). Conversation should happen naturally, though. I wouldn't worry about it. If no one's talking, fall asleep. That's the beauty of road tripping. |
I don't understand why people find discussing the meaning of life interesting.
|
superficial stuff since you can't get drunk, such as:
1. music magazines: why SPIN sucks, Chuck Klosterman, overpriced MOJO, fanzines, etc. 2. the hottest pin up girls: 60's v/s Pamela Anderson & co. 3. Twin Peaks. 4. play charades. 5. Japan. 6. worst movies you've seen in your life. 7. MTV. 8. about how much you want the others to shut the fuck up and drive in peace. |
Whoa, deep, dude. Also, for the record, witty.
What I mean is that it usually, if not always, just becomes "what is the meaning of a good life." And then everyone gets all noble about how it isn't about owning material things but about true love or loving what you do for a living and other hallmark virtues. It's like amateur night at the Platonic dialogue theater. Sure I sound like a pretentious asshole but I have spent a lot of personal time considering the question and having it made into something just to pass the time is like a slap in the face. |
Okay. I just hope you don't take my reply as anything more than the frustrations of a postgrad. Honestly, anytime spent philosophizing is time well spent.
Also I use "dude" with girls as well for some reason. Don't know why. Sorry. |
You're welcome, I supposium. Heh... heh
... Goodnight. EDIT: From reading your post, talking about judgment of others would be interesting since I consider the judgment of others as an existential imperative tied to one's own experiential integrity, though in a less absolute way than how I seem to have described it. |

And in reference to the philosophy stuff, I side with Freud in that even if you're talking nonsense and free association, if it helps you, the person in thought/conversation, to increase your happiness and quality of life, than it is a useful and beneficial discussion. It shouldn't matter if it's called the "meaning of life" or "how to take out the trash." Not everyone should be held accountable for being accurate. That's for people trained and educated to be accurate--i.e. frustrated postgrads. |
if it's crowded, look in other cars and make fun of the people in them

An aptly selected username, I see.
