Ahh, allright. I checked these out and they sound pretty mindblowing. A rainbow in curved air is pretty much the shit.

I'm downloading some of these and I'll listen and see.

the music is interesting and beautiful in itself but the concept (which is what i believe you're after) makes it a good topic to investigate. Hope you find it useful.

4000 words in a year.. ha ha ha oh shit... kids have it easy these days!!! seriously.... you should get 4000 words done in a wekif you really put in the effort.. a year fopr a thesis?????? man, seriously!

Whatever you do, don't start your essay assuming that Riley or Reich are serial muzak, or you'll be doomed from the start.

greedrex 01.25.2009 12:42 PM

ha ha yeah
goes without saying
you're so up yr own arse
at least i'm trying to help, which is not everybody's case.

sarramkrop 01.25.2009 12:45 PM

I might be, it's just that it's first time I've heard of someone describing their music like that.

greedrex 01.25.2009 01:08 PM

Terry Riley is by all means a serialist composer.
I tend to put Reich and Riley in the same category although Reich is rather minimalistic or whatever.
As far as interweaving patterns and loops and stuff these two go together quite well.
I'm no specialist or expert but i don't think i'm giving false data here.

i say "muzak" instead of "music" pretty often. It's not meant to be clever or anyhing.
so yeah.

sarramkrop 01.25.2009 01:14 PM

It's the muzak thing I was calling you out for. Nevermind.

greedrex 01.25.2009 01:26 PM

yeah
gotta watch what i post these days.
