"I'm more ill than an asthmatic on crack" is an awesome line. |

i said it's better than put a donk on it, but it's greatness is due to dogzilla's fine rhyming skills |
No I know it's awesome, but I don't know why it is that.

the combination of finely crafted rhyme skills and raw savagery is what i would put it down to |
Is it as good as Junior Spesh though?
|
Other names for donk: scouse house, bounce.
Can't they just call it rubbish? |

Put a Donk... is starting to get on my nerves now, but that DJ Sy tune is just ridiculously brilliant! |

Here something that will put you off donk forever: ''Generally people attribute early-90's DUTCH (Dutch Dutch Dutch Dutch..... )producers Ultrabeat for pioneering the sound.'' |

LIES I TELL YOU! It's all about SOUTHEND. |
Sometimes, the best song ever. But in the general run of things, just ridiculous.

It's true. I just finished reading a long article about it on a magazine. Also, apparently Wigan houses one record shop that sells exclusively donk, and it's called Power Records. Outside, kids play bootleg donk remixes on their mobile phones with tracks such as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers' 'Other Side', Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl' and Chris Isaac's 'Wicked Game' getting bouncy makeovers.

The word 'donk' comes from the relentless, maddening 'donk' sound that's overlaid on the beats. The whole subculture stems from a noise that originated from an old-school keyboard sound-effect that emulates an empty drainpipe being hit by a paddle. |

Not much different to the idea of a distortion pedal, which emulates the sound of a fucked amp (probably from the Who, or possibly Link Wray). |

Loathe as i am to join the discussion of a thread called "Put a Donk on It", I do hope you are all kidding when you call this crock of shit a "subculture". Its kinda insulting to any young person who may wish to make music |

You used to be able to get some cracking House makeovers like that in Trax, before it closed down. I've got a version of Swing Out Sister's 'Breakout' that pisses all over the original (some feat). |

Why? |

Yeah, I've heard a version of 'Some Might Say' by Oasis in a club once, which can only be described as 'helium-house'. It was good fun, in a disposable kind of way. |
