Don't kid yourself with oxycontin. That shit is just as bad as heroin.

I've done pretty much everything under the sun and I thank God I was never surrounded by heroin because after I tried it the first time, I'd have done anything for some more.

Heroin > Meth, though. Crank kills and is the most addictive substance in the world. I never stop thinking about it.

Reed didn't really do a lot of heroin despite writing songs about it in the early days of the Velvets. His thing for years on end was shooting speed. Actually harder to imagine he's still alive after doing that.

I'd say sticking to weed and acid is the best idea if you're going to do drugs. Everything else seems to fuck you up.

treat weed casually, treat acid with respect. that can definitely fuck you up if you've never tried it and don't have the benifit of good friends and a safe environment to do it in.

A lot of the speed back in the day was much cleaner, though. Desoxyn, Dexedrine, and various less dangerous street amphetamines were much more popular until the big crank boom of the late 80s early 90s. Methamphetamine itself isn't as harmful or scary as street crank. Desoxyn is actually a very mellow less euphoric and less addictive drug than street crank.

And doing it too often can lead to Hallucinogenic Persistent Perceptual Disorder. I have to take anti-psychotics every day or I tend to space out and go into flashbacks a few times a week.

I'd also like to add that any drug aside from weed has at least a pretty good addiction potential. Especially prescription pills. Don't kid yourself with prescription opiates and benzos. Those are really serious drugs and the withdrawals are very real. Stimulants will destroy your brain.
