from what i've read it's only a handful of bands who are genuinely NSBM, but the impression i get is that thanks to burzum being nsbm the whole genre gets tarred with that brush. also i think genuine nazi's are a bit weirded out by the BM scene, they see it as being a bit idiotic and they would rather not be associated with it, so nsbm is so marginal as to be entirely insignificant.

_slavo_ 06.16.2006 08:21 AM

yes burzum was deeply into this shit too.

Savage Clone 06.16.2006 08:25 AM

Graveland are one of my very favorite bands.
Slavo, if we had to take into account the personal politics of every artist we wanted to enjoy, we would get to enjoy very little of the fine art and music in this world.
David Smith was an alcoholic wifebeater; does that make his sculpture any less amazing?
I think not.
The music of these NSBM bands is not "Pro-white message music" like Skrewdriver or something of that nature. They limit that kind of thing to interviews for the most part, and those interviews are damn entertaining.
To suggest that listening to their music is supporting their personal agenda is ridiculous.
We are thinking adults who can make up our own minds.
The fact that I like Burzum, Gontyna Kry, Graveland, Nokturnal Mortum, etc, does not automatically make me supportive of their personal agendas. To suggest that it does is condescending at best.
Yeesh.

What about Blut Aus Nord or Haemoth? I heard france has a vital scene of nsbm bands, but I don't know if that's true.

deathspell omega or mutiilation may have some nsbm connections, but i can't remember what it was i saw thatmakes me think that... both bands are musically ace though

I understand.

it is incomplete, burzum is missing.

most nsbm are more talk than anything really, just using the symbols and speech to inspire fear and shock value, you have people like varg vikernes or the idiots in absurd changing their beliefs in order to find a reaction from the public; plus, if you come out of nowhere saying you are neo nazi, then there's a whole contingent of people, especially in europe, ready to back the band up and buy their records and have an audience, regardless of how bad the band can be. very few nsbm bands have paramilitary ties or are politically active.

there's a lot of bands i don't agree with ideologically (like some hippie bands, for example) but who i do enjoy musically, and i have said, i don't buy bm records out of principle mainly, but i do download them.

i like nokturnal mortum, they remind me of early satyricon, only with eastern european folklorick influences replacing the medieval tones.

and cathedral are way cool, their last album was ok, i guess, but the etheral mirror? masterpiece!

by the way: anyone care to listen to wigrid? they are similar to burzum and their last album is supe.rb

Phlegmscope 02.04.2009 07:56 PM

The british bloke left his bumbing project unfinished. Here's one more.

Nokturnal mortum were supposed play here couple of years ago, but I didn't hear word of them after reading about that. Still haven't heard them, but would've attended to that gig if it indeed had happened back then.

Toilet & Bowels 02.04.2009 08:47 PM

is no colours an nsbm label or have they just put out records by a few nsbm bands?

Everyneurotic 02.04.2009 10:55 PM

i think they are not nsbm but deal with tons of those kinds of bands.

they have tons of unpolitical bands in their roster and are somewhat well distributed.

sarramkrop 02.13.2009 07:34 AM

This thread made me want to pick up Cathedral's 'The Ethereal Mirror' again, and remember how superb the playing is on it, especially 'Fountain Of Innocence', which is a standout song.
