i really like the mars volta. i love all these people saying, I FUCKING HATE MARS VOLTA! WORST BAND ON THE PLANET RIGHT NOW!....EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING ALBUMS AND SONGS WHICH ARE INCREDIBLE....

Mars Volta took all the creativity At The Drive-in put into their songs and spread it out from 2 and a half minute songs to 7+ minute songs and made it sound more boring.

well there have been at least three people that claim to hate them except loving the following. no one likes EVERYTHING a band puts out, so i think it's unfair treatment to talk so much shit seeing as how you enjoy some of their stuff

So it's not possible that some of their music is great and some of it is shit?

relationship was awesome. theyre early stuff was good too. mars volta is ok, but notthin in camparison to ATDI. they never seemed to play well live. am i just mistakin? i never seen them, just videos.

i'm just saying i think you were all giving them a hard wrap seeing as how they, by your own admission, do make some great stuff. they hired me to go around and defend them on message boards so if you're wondering that's the reason i'm doing this

Deloused in the comatorium is the best that Omar/Cedric has done. Relationship of command is next in line. Ive not liked Frances the Mute.

Frances blew. The others were ok and I'm using that word lightly.

I saw them live just once. At the Underworld in Camden. They were very good. Threw themselves all over the stage but didn't approve of anyone in the crowd jumping around too much. I remember they played the "Nothing's Shocking" album by Jane's Addiction over the PA before the show. That was cool.

I saw The Mars Volta a couple of years later (and many times since) but have never seen them play a show as good as that ATD-I Underworld show.

I never said I liked ANYTHING that Mars Volta has ever made.

I just learned all of "catacombs" on guitar last night. Great song indeed!

The Mars volta is THE BEST band i have ever seen and i saw them about a year after sonic youth(my first real concert) and i've seen built to spill iron and wine, blond redhead, dinosaur jr., Interpol>(the worst band EVER in concert soooooooooo damn boring) BUT i never got to see ATDI

ATDI were decent, I wasn't a huge fan but they've got some stuff I enjoy. I don't understand everyones fascination with The Mars Volta though. I have some friends that really love them, but it all seems waaaaaaay too self indulgent and boring to me. I dunno, I'm just not a fan of this kinda neo-progy, psych stuff. Just not my thing.

i remember reading somewhere that the mars volta said they were trying to capture the feel of Piper at the gates of dawn on their records, If this is true, they horribly failed.

i prefer Mars Volta, i find them easier to listen too, as for an ATDI cover band? best of luck to ya..

ATD-I were just amazing. Like properly one of the best bands ever. In Casino Out was their best album.

In my opinion the Mars Volta are absolute shit. They just are so boring and pretentious. In theory they should be good but it just doesnt work. Though I have to say the Tremulant EP was great. However the two albums are absolute wankfests

One of the most overrated, unoriginal bands I've ever heard. Kinda cheesy like Rage Against The Machine. Can't hold a candle to Jehu.
