Sing this song: I'm turning Japanese, yes I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so... .

By the way, do you have any ideas on how to find out concerts happening in Japan? I know there aren't any in my neck of the woods, but I'm planning on travelling soon (Sept. 19th for a week or so) and want to see some music. God, I don't even care what it is! It's hard to go from two concerts a week to no concerts for two years.

Thanks!

Where are you going?
The Tokyo Gig guide that I posted above is probably the best resource in the Kanto area. Otherwise the Improvised Music from Japan website (http://www.japanimprov.com/schedule/index.html) is a good resource, but only if you're into that kind of improv. It's obviously mainly focused on Kanto and Kansai, but some other areas come up from time to time.
Otherwise it's not particularly easy. Searching for live houses on google can do some good. For example a google search for 秋田(あきた) ライブハウス yielded this:http://www.cna.ne.jp/~swindle-/schedule.htm and this http://www.jazzcatwalk.net/. You may find something you like from time to time.
You're not that far from Hirosaki in Aomori, right? There are some awesome Izakayas there where they play Tsugaru shamisen while you eat and drink. It's definitely a worthwhile experience. Check this place out: http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/ryuken/adohadari.html
