absolutely agreed, as about 'if everybody was agnostic'.

fugazifan, hold on man! :)

Fugazifan, I truly feel for you and have been through a similar situation. Yes, family honor is something that most western societies haven't a clue about and your situation is really a sad one. As demonrail has said the best is to try to stay together and keep the possibilities open for a relationship down the road. In my experience though, this is an agonizing ordeal, (at least it was for me) in that it is difficult to ''hang out'' and ''be friends'' with someone that you loves, loves you without having any proper intimacy.

this isn't about religion, this is about ideology and politics - of which religion merely plays a part. My family are from the protestant side of northern ireland and i know that were any of them to have tried to have a relationship with a catholic while they were there it would've been incredibly frowned upon, but for political reasons far more than anything else. A similar thing happened to me when I was going out with a catholic, but to a far lesser degree - simply because the religious divide isn't as politicised in England as it is in Northern Ireland. Israel is a place, like Northern Ireland, where religion is inherently politicised. That's what I meant about Fugazifan being caught up in something far bigger than something that might on the surface appear to be little more than wanting a relationship that crosses two faiths.

I agree.

fugazifan 07.18.2009 09:27 AM

yeah so i forgot that there is another interesting piece of the picture.
i had another real good female friend (jewish israeli) who i was somewhat interested in but knew that what i felt with girl a was much stringer. the day before i told girl a aobut my feelings, girl b told me that she has feelings for me. and i told her that kinda did as well but that there is someone else.
now she is telling me that she needs space, and time apart. which is understandable but its just a lot for me to deal with, the feeling that two important relationships that i had might be somewhat destroyed, over the course of two days....
anywise....
just thought i might add this update

demonrail666 07.18.2009 09:59 AM

now that's what i call really screwing things up!

fugazifan 07.18.2009 10:00 AM

yeah its all pretty messed up now...

floatingslowly 07.18.2009 10:11 AM

preconceptions be damned.

so aside from the obvious allusions to Romeo and Juliet here, let me ask you, is this girl an orthodox christian? I understand many Palestinian Arab Christians are Greek Orthodox. If she is practicing orthodox (i mean for real, not for family) then it will be very hard to get over things, its hard for orthodox christians to date any non-orthodox people, the orthodox church requires a strict lifestyle which is fairly incompatible outsiders [ trust me from experience with this one :( ]

yeah so,
i dont develop romantic feelings that often. in fact since my last girlfriend, four years ago, i never really saw myself with anyone.
but over the past few months ive really gotten close to this girl. we really connect on a level that is really rare, and i had for a while doubted that i could connect with someone.
and i am crazy about her.
she is also an israeli christian arab.
two days ago i told her how i felt and she said that although she feels the same, it can never be. the reason is that her ex boyfriend was also not an arab (but was christian,, so me being jewish, and israeli does not help) and her society turned their lives into a living hell, and she cannot go through that again, or have me go through that.
long story short: i like girl, she likes me, but it can never be.

so ive been pretty depressed these past two days.
i hope i snap out of it soon.
but i do feel pretty terrible.

so yeah, just thought id share

get the fuck out of there and go to cyprus. then migrate to amerikkka. nobody gives a shit what god's dick you bow to here-- unless you're trying to run for president, but at that point you could move back to israel.

MellySingsDoom 07.18.2009 02:13 PM

I spent about 5 months backpacking around Israel several years back. The women are drop dead gorgeous.

do you have to keep it secret?

Diesel 10.10.2009 06:48 PM

When the police come a knocking after she's ran away and not been home for a couple weeks you will find they will be on your side and can help from then on. Plus when her 'guardian' brothers turn up you can blame them for calling the fucking cops but then the copz can help ya! x
