See, this is exactly what I mean - you've immediately taken a very negative position on whatever my alcohol consumption is. You're also working on the assumption that when I get drunk I don't want to deaden my senses. I find it enjoyable, once or maybe twice a week, to turn myself into a blathering retard. I'm not violent when I'm drunk, and I don't put anyone else in any danger, and I really don't see that as a problem. At the risk of being immodest, there's a lot of fairly sharp people that drink precisely because they need an escape from the incessant dirge of brain function.
What I would be doing if I wasn't drinking is reading while listening to records or wasting my life on the fucking internet. As it is, I think drinking's definitely an improvement on the latter.
