Thanks man. Yeah, the drums were crappy. I made these before I really knew what I was doing. If I were to re-do them, I would use different timbres, most notably the accordian playing second violin on the first movement. There were a lot of different synths I didn't even know I had.

Cool - I didn't mean to come across as overly harsh earlier, it's a fair achievement, and tracking that lot must've been a tricky fucker. It's one of those ideas that's got a lot of potential - I don't know if you've heard the 'Mozart for babies' series of CDs, but it's not far different to your idea, just with more toybox type sounds. There's money in them hills.

StevOK 09.11.2009 01:07 PM

I'm going to look for some toy samples to use on the next one, haha.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.11.2009 01:09 PM

such friends are dangerous 'w.h.a.l.e.s.' (2005)

some instrumental work I did a few years back. I enjoyed it terribly..

working on a new project with a drummer. should come out with a legit recording, not a demo, by december. there have been somedelays or it would be out by October :(

Trasher02 09.11.2009 01:39 PM

I made this song yesterday. Don't mind the horrible singing and the drums (they're kind of out of tune). I kinda feel like the song is missing something though I can't put my finger on it, comments would be nice.

Anyway, here it is: http://rapidshare.com/files/27870511...Again.mp3.html

I'm off to a party now, I'll check the new songs first thing in the morning!

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.11.2009 02:27 PM

y'all should start using 4shared.com it is much BETTER than rapidshare or other hosting sites, it is permanent and five gigs for free using yr google account.

4shared.com

a demo recording of some new stuff working on in the studio for upcoming release

And to be a full part of this thread, here are my two EPs and the Mozart stuff I've done:

The Nth Generation InstruMENTAL EP

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's a MIDI File EP

Mozart's Symphony No. 35 in D
I. Allegro con Spirito
II. Andante
III. Menuetto - Trio
IV. Presto

I like this Nth generation. a lot, in fact this is one of the finest SYG artists I have listened to period. would you like to collaborate? I am looking for some electronic sounds like in Crushed to Bits to accent my guitar work on my album but after years of working on fruityloops/reason I have had no luck getting the sound I am looking for...

email/pm if yr interested.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.11.2009 02:39 PM

now the comments:

Lee- Losing Touch

I like the bass line, I like the lyrical style, sounds like a no-wave mazzy song. I say you need to polish that feedback on those guitars, maybe also add a lead guitar playing a simple melody or pattern along with the bass.. that way the feedback falls more into the same kind of O'Rourke feedback on dripping dream rather then the driving melody..

Second time listening to it, I wish the vocals were a little more clear (but I understand where you're going with the murkiness). Once again, the ending is pretty damn cool.

I have a demo of 11 tracks from the summer. They all have vocals, but I wasn't comfortable with them yet, so I axed them.

Let me know what you guys think of "Summer 9."
If you like it, give the other 10 a try.

I really like this as well. this is also one of the best SYG artists I have ever heard, I really like the acoustic blended with feedback. fucking impressive, gets my soul moving in an ambient direction.. keep it coming! email this album if you can!

Group I'm in. some not so bad improvised ones... not bad. we're capable of much better. new recordings will be up in the coming weeks

thrashy, no-wave. not bad. I am a big fan of feedback.

I was thinking about doing a whole album of freight train covers, this is the first 'demo' but is more like a total piss take

Its like what Jerry Garcia was thinking when he wrote Friend of the Devil. In fact, its like Friend of the Devil meets Kurt Cobain's "Beans"

brilliant!

DeadDiscoDildo 09.11.2009 03:46 PM

This is a side project aside from my band The harlequins, I did it with a friend from canada. It's called The Legendary Dead Disco Dildos haha. Im the guy singing, she's the girl, basically the songs we sing lead we did ourself, I sang back up on her nico cover and I think the rest are just either mine, or covers where I was practicing harmonies...what do ya think?

PS: ok to make things easier, I did caroline no, surfer girl and back ups on femme fatal. She did dont talk put yr head on my shoulder and femme fatal. & I did all the back ups on my songs.

We should do some kind of comp of those demos. Like "SYG rarities Vol. 1" (etc) or something. Yes no ?

we tried to get this going before but it never materialized.. I would love to work on this comp again though.. In fact if I get some time and permission I might just make the collection myself ;)

SuchFriends, I'm really digging "Sunset Strip." It reminds me a lot of the band Hum. The guitar is strong and meaningful, and the drums sound nice and raw. At the end, the song seems to collapse into disarray. I would love to hear you expand on that!
