Wise?

why did this make me laugh so hard.
maybe because i pictured the avatar saying it in a strange voice on a boring tv show.

when i give a shit about the person, i'll drop them a pm, maybe get on email. though i don't give my phone to interwebsters.

as for declarations of insanity, we've watched many characters here have very public meltdowns, whether they were feigned or not. some of them in fact, are in this thread claiming or supporting the claim that it is all bullshit, yet when their turn came up to have a personality crisis, and cried for help in whatever way, some got it, and later claimed that some boarders had rushed to their rescue(s)-- that is, in whatever epistolary ways allow, or checks or money orders or something.

yes, most of this shit is drama caca, but here and there you connect with people somehow through their internet masks. o make me a mask, etc etc.

i don't think a forum such as this is actually a particularily bad place to have a meltdown. shit in the restrictive conformity of the real world we all live in, having a meltdown (ie. dropping the ball and chain of forced social bullshit) and letting out the repressed pain can end up in your incarceration in a mental "hospital"/prison. And being drugged with SSRI's - or as i like to call them - bad drugs that don't work and have horrible side effects.

this place is an ego support network, of course the egos are going to have their breakdowns, these are what often lead to their breakthroughs.

a bit scared, but i'd invite her in and fire up a j and put on some tea. i wouldn't want to be a bad host.

jon boy 11.28.2009 03:21 PM

i doubt if anyone here has ever had a meltdown.

And what would make one say that? Solely because I say I've had a meltdown does not mean I didn't have one. It's the reality of life. People have mental health issues. I'm self-aware enough to recognize them.

Typically, I would say no, but due to the instances of psych/mental issues today/in this scene, I think it's important to talk to others. Panda Bear for example was taking exactly what i was for a while, and was a strong proponent of trying to get through it and off the drugs, vs. being prescribed them for life.

Absolutely. Mental illness is everywhere and it's not something to be ashamed about or be afraid of divulging. I find the internet to be a perfect place to get things off of my chest without worrying about negative reactions. Because, if you write bullshit, I can choose not to read it but if you write something worthwhile in the current situation, it's well worth it.

Discussing mental illness is the only way to educate the uneducated on the painful truth about how miserable and emotionless you are taking ssris for long periods of time. Medicating the problem is not solving it.

drugs make things a little more bearable sometimes, but you must find your own catharsis.

i have mental health issues out the ass, it runs on both sides of the family, but i'm sticking around for the long haul. i refuse to let it get the better of me. everyone has their ups and downs. ways in which people might choose to deal with them is entirely personal and honestly it's ignorant and rude to pass judgement on anyone because of the way they choose to deal with their problems. focus on yourself. i'm not calling any of you out, i'm just saying.

i think the interweb is not the safest of places at all (see: sway) but i understand that when you lost it here some time ago there were people around sending you encouraging messages (whatever they are worth). melly and others, if i recall.

in any case, in the restrictive world bla bla, that's why it's good to have supportive family and understanding friends and a good shrink to boot. but whatever works i say.

No.

Though all of us here have some sort of similiar taste, we are all still completely different. Some of us will of course have some mental problems that they feel they must address on a public forum like this, whether it'd be for comfort or to hear of people in similiar situations. You may not believe it but hearing that someone from across the world may have the exact same problem as you can be comforting. I wouldn't explain my whole personal life on here though unless I felt it was necessary to do so.

Very well put, dear.

Satan 11.29.2009 08:17 PM

thanks bby

if any of you show up at my door to 'check on me' i've got a bullet with your name written on it

furthermore if anyone ever actually pulled that shit i would immediately question their sanity and assume that they were the one with the issues and not me. that shit wouldn't fly in a million years.

Conrad 11.29.2009 08:19 PM

Yes, but only certain people.

I'm not really "close" to many people on the internet.

artsygrrl 11.29.2009 11:05 PM

Everyone here has issues of one sort or another. I'm talking about mental problems.
When someone has a "meltdown" on the board they know they're taking a big risk. I see these as:
1. Desperate, genuine calls for help/advise/support...whatever the risk. Or...
2. Someone who feels the need to generate attention because he/she feels ignored/left out/not popular, or just lonely.
So, since I don't know for sure, I usually take these meltdowns seriously. Better safe than sorry. I'm sure some ppl have me pegged as a sucker. But fuck them, who cares?
