for me, trying to break into one of those could mean 1) lots of lost time researching how to pull this caper, 2) the possibility of utter and complete failure in spite of all efforts 3) a jail sentence 3) constant worries of future discovery should some shit change happen to change.

hence the cost/benefit ratio looks shitty.

easier to get a university friend & nab it @ student price. academic prices are pretty good. then there's the upgrade path which might be fine. then there's getting the occasional legit but used copy ("im switiching to mac, bitches") and validating it, provided they give you the right serial (you can fish the serial out of the machine if they don't know).
