Fucking great intro! When the base starts pumping... Ferry singing a melody that could fit right into a punk rock anthem. If it wern't 6:07 a.m. right now, I'd crank up the volume, but my parents are asleep and my bro' just went to sleep...

I like their first half-dozen or so albums, but their later stuff has some nice songs here and there too.

That little descending synth part is so amazing, despite being a total cocktease (all of Eno's work with RM is sort of a cocktease though.) I think some of my favorite synth-punk/noise rock bands (I'm talking DEVO, Brainiac) had to have heard this song and been inspired. |
^^^ that is absolutely my favorite Roxy Music song. I love the way the song is three parts, describing a lifetime of love.
the 12+ minute version is the best. the louder the better. <3 |
Weird I just found a copy of Country Life in a box some dude down the street had put out for people to take while I was walking my dog this morning, I also found a cool looking ECM record called Manfred Schoof Quintet that looks really neat. Anyway, I don't actually like Roxy music all that much so I'm going to give the LP to the other guitar player in my band as he is a big fan......

Bryan Ferry is playing NYC tonite but the ticketing is so annoying I can't deal with it, you have to buy a ticket and then you have to pay again to actually get the ticket, regardless if you download it or pick it up. Its such bullshit. Tickets are $5 on stubhub (but you can't buy just on e there). The balcony is going to be near empty judging by the number of tickets for sale.
