if he can do whatever he wants then he can put on a shirt too. it would be wise at this point. he does look good for his age though.

What's the point? He still get's far more compliments than insults regarding his physique. I admire older people that don't mind still shooting for sexy. If it's a failure (+ I for one don't believe it is in Iggy's case), so what? People get old, our bodies change, no reason to hide it if one doesn't want to.

Still though, to each their own.

Hopefully he stopped unbuttoning his pants on stage after '06...'cause that photo was pushin' it...

ann ashtray 09.01.2010 07:41 PM

He hasn't.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.01.2010 07:42 PM

What a legend.

ann ashtray 09.01.2010 07:47 PM

That's one of the things I like about Iggy though...he's been ripped off so many times, by everyone from Bowie to Anthony Kiedis, that it really doesn't matter what he does anymore. He seriously is one of those that has absolutely nothing left to prove.

RanaldoNecro 09.02.2010 03:40 PM

Totally ripped by Anthony Kiedas

hevusa 09.02.2010 03:47 PM

ripped? as in ripped off?
Kiedas?

A post by one "Anonymous" there indicates these are Plastic Ono Band shenanigans, not a Lennon tribute.

Some old Stooges tunes that haven't been released 'till recently:

Asthma Attack
(very noisy...recorded during the sessions off that first Stooges record. Recently released on Rhino Handmade rerelease of first album).

Doojiman - Recorded during Raw Power session. Stones meet prototypical punk rock/weird. Very repetitive, not very good, but still...interesting.

I love Doojiman and Asthma Attack. I'm actually beginning to prefer a lot of The Stooges' more random, semi-coherent moments over most of their official releases. (as as happened with the NY Dolls of late, having recently got their Private Worlds demo CD) I love the sci-fi-like effects at the beginning and the end of Doojiman. I only wish they could remix that particular track so the vocals weren't so prominent, or even turn it into an instrumental. There's a great riff, which reminds me more of a kind of Parliament meets The Yardbirds thing. Awesome. The bass playing on Asthma Attack is also some of the best I've heard on any Stooges track. Again, though, it's sort of let down by Iggy's clearly improvised/scat vocals.

I down see James Williamsonas as the stooges guitarist. Ron Asheton 4 ever

demonrail666 09.21.2010 04:35 PM

I love James Williamson's guitar on Raw Power but you're right, there's something about Ron's playing that I just think is unique. I've spent some time this past few years trying to learn the guitar 'properly' and I keep coming back to Ron Asheton and realising just what a phenomenal guitarist he was. Not flashy but incredibly hard to replicate.

demonrail666 09.21.2010 07:57 PM

I genuinely think that Iggy might be to the Stooges what Robert Plant is to LZ: a leader who's also their band's weakest link (at least in terms of my ability to enjoy them).

I don't find Iggy as irritating as I do Plant but I get a similar feeling that ultimately, The Stooges would've likely been far better without him. I know that for some, that's a ludicrous statement but I've always found Iggy, both in terms of his vocals, onstage antics and general persona, quite annoying.

Granted, he basically dove his own career into the grave at one point.. But whatever, he was the energy and I can't really imagine them backing up anyone else..
