BASSNECTAR HALLOWEEN!! @ first avenue
EPROM & ESKMO @ the loft Prefuse 73 @ triple rock social club Caribou @ 7th street GBV @ First Ave Dan Deacon @ U of M No particular order although Bassnectar was probably the most fun I had all year. |
I just have to say, who are all these bands that you SYG folks listen to? I mean, I listen to some obscure radio, but I can never keep up with ANY of the bands folks listen to here, it is immensely out of my range..
what is what? what sounds like who? I'm lost ![]() |
Everything I listed, save for GBV, is strictly dance or dubstep.
|
Prefuse 73 is one of the best shows i've witnessed. Fucking amazing!!
And i'm not particularly fond of his records. |
So far this year (I've been to so many amazing shows):
Bonaparte of Montreal Caribou Swans Blonde Redhead PVT Mount Eerie Fuck Buttons |
Sonic Youth....in NY.
Lightning Bolt saw them for 15 minutes. it was the greatest 15 minutes ever. |
^ oh yah! can't forget BLonde Rdhead.
oh yeah! CLinic too! They were fucking grerat! |
boris was great too!

Funny, because I was just thinking how it's very much what you'd expect from people around here, except your list. Any chance you fancy making a roots compilation for me? Can return the favour however you like. |
Oh, I also forgot LCD SOUNDSYSTEM...

just google them? |
I knew I had left someone out. Talk Normal were great too. I think this year I have enjoyed watching bands playing live more than any records. Shame Drunkdriver never made it to the UK, that would have been the cherry on the cake. I also really enjoyed T&B's band when they played at the Cross Kings, it seemed to me that the various elements of their sound were more clearly heard all at once, with the rockier side being taken care of by the more hypnotic part they played at the end.

A Place to Bury Strangers
Belle & Sebastian with the Vaselines Xiu Xiu with Casiotone for the Painfully Alone UNKLE Municipal Waste/Cynic/Sacred Reich Trans Am The Lincoln Center Jazz Ensemble with Wynton Marsalis Yokozuna Justice Yeldham with Kevin Shields (the noise girl) Also the two gigs i played, the other bands were fantastic: Ratas del Vaticano, Los Monjo, Inservibles, Crimen and La URSS (from Spain.) |
Many votes for Lightning Bolt, and I'm glad. They just ruled live. Just killed it. So many assholes unplugged cables and knocked over shit.. but it didn't ruin the show.
I'm in this video; look for me at the bottom haha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ca9y9niBYM Someone at the show kept yelling "WOLF EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at them. He was wearing a Godflesh shirt. Strange dude. Quote:
Hmm, I dunno, I don't think hardly anyone posted any obscure bands. A few here or there. |
Shut up!!! Lightning Bolt are racists that don't like my neck of the narco-woods and won't come play here.
I'm dying to see them. |
