I hate smoking in public places, it smells like shit. The worst part is that smokers can't smell it. (I don't smoke) I really hate cheap cigs too because they smell even worse.

Social engineering issues aside, I don't give two shits about "smokers' rights" in instances such as these. I lived in your fucking world long enough. If I can endure an eye-stinging, throat-burning, shower-inducing environment for the sake of my music fandom for years and years on fucking end, smokers can go ahead and go without for two hours and suffer for theirs.

Indeed, as you should. I know I bitched about smoking quite often over the past two decades I spent in poorly-ventilated venues.
I understand there are issues of "liberty" and "social engineering" around this, but I am speaking from pure selfishness and the strain of decades of enduring an environment where I often had to leave early due to stinging eyes and throat (not to mention the smell) when I rant about this stuff.

ALL laws are social engineering, as is all civic planning, building of roads over rail systems (or vice versa), any infrastructure decisions. Hell, even where and how stadiums are built is social engineering. This is a drop in the bucket compared to so much else....
