This is very likely the music my parents were listening to when I was conceived:

It was Rerun, not Rog (short for Roger) though.
Ihad a friend named Raj though that moved out to sunny California, but, I digress.
Don't you just naturally get irked (& maybe involuntarily cringe a little) when someone uses the "I digress" idiom? Pardon me, I digress.

Hello, sonic pharmacist.

Prescribe more often, will ya?!

Ah, yes Atari, you are correct! It was Rerun. And, unfortunately for a lot of my friends, I cannot prescribe (that's up to a physician) :(

Post-Doobies Michael McDonald....Here's the deal.

The solo stuff was not so hot, but he excelled in duets, and as a background vocalist, he really helped take other people's music to a whole 'nother level, especially "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross.

Even what decent stuff he did solo in the 80's was completely crapped on in the recent years with that Motown covers album.

I have a strange fascination with the vocal stylings of this man, so it makes me laugh to see us talking about him on SYboard. When I'm at a diner or a drugstore or thrift store or any place where they play piped-in music over the intercom, I say it is not time to leave until you have heard Michael McDonald or Carly Simon. If you leave before then, your experience is not complete.

That song becomes completely unconvincing once you see photos of these two:

The Doobie Brothers really got away with one of the coolest band names ever. I mean these guys were #1 week after week when I was a kid...

SC, you got us all on that one.

Baseball caps and soul patches....the sure sign of douchie-ness.

ok, i voted for the db...
dj rick, i feel the same way, there is something creepy about how damn good mcdonald is... once you let it in it's hard to let go.

i didn't see this mentioned, but this is some funny shit:
go to the "you tube" site and do a search for "Yacht Rock"

My strange fascination with McDonald stems from the fact that I have a pretty decent vocal impression of him.

Yes!

haha

My best impressions are Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, (bassy) David Bowie, and Michael Stipe, although I can do all those Eddie Vedder-types also, but to a lesser extent.

I wish I could others as well.

It's amusing to me when I do Bob doing Lou songs or Lou doing Bob songs.
