Probably half or more of US Presidents were secretly or not so secretly (in the early days) agnostics or outright atheist. They kiss the ass of the religious to get their votes, especially because they know that old people vote more frequently and people get more religious as they get older and near death and want someone to give them a soothing balm to let them know they are forgiven for all the hateful and evil shit they did in their pathetic stupid lives.
