Then he slithered and slunk, with a smile most unpleasant,
Around the whole room, and he took every present!
Pop guns! And bicycles! Roller skates! Drums!
Checkerboards! Tricycles! Popcorn! And plums!
And he stuffed them in bags. Then Jon Boy, very nimbly,
Stuffed all the bags, one by one, up the chimbley!

Three thousand feet up! Up the side of Mt. Crumpit,
He rode with his load to the tiptop to dump it!
"Pooh-Pooh to the boardies!" he was Jon Boy-ishly humming.
"They're finding out now that no Christmas is coming!"

jon boy 12.18.2006 10:08 AM

i hope that the good people of your town dont want insurance while you think of rhyming things to type into the sy board!

i am the grinch and i fully admit it. my heart is as black as coal. bitches.

btw i helped two small children decorate a tree on sunday. and i spent far too much money on a present for my sister today.

My mother passed away last October and my father works in an area of Baghdad known as "The Triangle of Death," so the meaning of Christmas has changed a bit for me these past two years. I don't consider myself a Christian, so Christmas is more of a family tradition in my eyes than a celebration of something specific, and without much of a family the holiday has lost a lot of its meaning. That said, I'm still not a "Grinch." I enjoy buying people presents, if for no other reason than to know that my money is going toward something that isn't going to intoxicate me. I like that a lot of my friends are a little nicer and a little more forgiving of myself and others this time of year. I like seeing pointsettias in shop windows and wreaths and red ribbons hanging from 300 year old oak trees in my town. I like seeing the smile on children's faces when Santa "Father Christmas" Clause waves and tosses them a wink from the steps of the board of education building. I like trying to guess who's going to tell me "Merry Christmas" and who's going to settle for "Happy Holidays." It's nice...

You're thinking of the other middle-aged English bloke.

It's books the people round these parts are being deprived of while I'm on here.

If you knew the books that sold at Christmas, you'd know that nobody's missing out on anything too exciting.

Our best seller this week:

Jeremy Clarkson - And Another Thing
