I have an actual record collection, I still buy physical copies whenever I'm compelled by the art and/or the object... the music is often times secondary because, perhaps unfortunately, vinyl is not my primary way of listening to music.

That too, besides my paid streaming service I spend a great deal of time listening to Youtube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.22.2013 02:10 PM

I must admit, with all the full albums now available on youtube, I listen to it A LOT for music. I USED to stream a lot too, but I got bored with it for no real reason.

This weekend, I met a dear friend for lunch in Little Ethiopa. Naturally, the subject of Sonic Youth came up, and I was asked if I'd listened to Chelsea Light Moving.

I told the truth, I hadn't. I simply have no time for music (or really, anything else).

one thing I like about CDs is I don't have to get up and flip them over.

On Fairfax? Did you ball it and go to Mesob or feel more locally inclined and grab some Merkato? Either way, this LA, ALL the cooks in the backroom are Mexicans, but that is fine, Mexican men are perhaps universally the best cooks in the world.

EVOLghost 07.22.2013 03:12 PM

Hehe. Almost same for here in Chicago. Even in really nice downtown restaurants you see Mexican line chefs and every now and then there is a Hispanic head chef...but yeah. I call all the food here Mexican food :p

Rob Instigator 07.22.2013 03:14 PM

Mexicans and Latin Americans are the best cooks, and cook in nearly all the restaurants in USA.

If I were to buy music, it'd have to be digital because terror-bytes run cheap and light.

That said, everything I bother to listen to is free to download anyways.

www.sweetvalley.bandcamp.com Suck it and see.

Fuuuuck. I really can't imagine it being many records either :/

EVOLghost 07.22.2013 03:16 PM

Oh and you won't see Mexicans working Chinese joints....at least I haven't yet.

Rob Instigator 07.22.2013 03:18 PM

In Houston you see Hispanic cooks at many of the Asian restaurants, whether it be sushi, or vietnamese, or Thai, or Chinese of all types, or Korean, or whatever.

Bullshit. At the Chinese place I go to twice a week, Mexican cooks. Admittedly, when the old Chinese grandpopz (who is cool as shit by the way) cooks its so much better, but even when he doesn't, the place is the best in town. At the sushi place, true, Mexicans just help, but then again, that's not cooking with fire, and one things Mexicans do better than anyone is cook with fire!

'twas Rosalinds, ese.

EVOLghost 07.22.2013 03:50 PM

I said Chinese mofo!

Rob Instigator 07.22.2013 03:52 PM

$1,000 to ship 350 LP's? fuck.

floatingslowly 07.22.2013 04:04 PM

Irreplaceables.

Had to use USPS SlowBoat stylee. UPS wanted $450 a box (there were 5). They all made it (eventually) despite the most crucial box detouring into Canada (for fuck's sake).

The comic books were mostly given to a friend... :'(

floatingslowly 07.22.2013 04:09 PM

Ps: looking for a digital format CAT. mine cost nearly fucking five grand to move (and she still hasn't flown out yet).

Rosalind's is ok, if you're going veggie Rahel's Vegan is better, but expensive. Merkato is still be best deal for decent Ethiopian grub if you ain't trying to break the bank, plus they have excellent tej!

floatingslowly 07.22.2013 04:24 PM

Eh, I wasn't buying. Free lunches are the best kind.
