screamingskull 01.12.2007 10:59 AM

mmmmm, then i had to open it at college to see how bad the damage was so i got 7 years bad luck!

jon boy 01.12.2007 11:04 AM

what! you dont get seven years bad luck for opening an umbrella indoors do you? i thought that was breaking mirrors.

what would happen if you broke a mirror with an open umbrella?

ALIEN ANAL 01.12.2007 11:08 AM

9 winds isnt even bad, one time i was walking to town, and the wind blew on me like 17 times, it was heaps windy, so dont complain about 9 winds!

sonicl 01.12.2007 11:09 AM

I knew it was supposed to be bad luck to put an umbrella up indoors, but I didn't know that the type of bad luck was any specific than that.

ALIEN ANAL 01.12.2007 11:12 AM

Well actually, if you open a red umbrella indoors, the bad luck your recieve is
everytime you have an iceypole, and your at the last bit and you have to munch one side....the other side will fall off :(

screamingskull 01.12.2007 11:13 AM

An umbrella, according to popular superstition, should never be open indoors or you will bring bad luck on all the people residing in the building. It is thought that this superstition originates back when the purpose of the umbrella was to act as a sunshade. If opened indoors the action may be construed as a direct insult to the sun, which was revered in many societies.

Umbrellas also have other superstitions attached to them, most often those that bring bad luck.

It is bad luck to give an umbrella as a gift.
If you drop an umbrella, do not pick it up. Instead, have someone else do it for you, or you will be the recipient of bad luck.
If a single woman drops an umbrella, she will never marry.
If an umbrella is opened outside when it is not needed, rain, and other bad weather, will follow.

Today across the Wirral has been a tale of shop signs down, people being hit in the face by flying litter, villages closed off to traffic, cats looking for shelter, wheelie bins scattered across roads, debris falling from rooftops, traffic ceasing and many people moaning like pussies.

Tokolosh 01.18.2007 01:01 PM

Tell me about it! I'm still at work on the island, and it doesn't look like I'll be sleeping in my own bed tonight. It's really bad on this side. The ferry has been docked. Gale force 11 winds and the roof tiles are shaking bigtime!

Hip Priest 01.18.2007 01:04 PM

What island is it? It sounds very pleasant, working on an island.

Tokolosh 01.18.2007 01:09 PM

It's called Texel, and if you look carefully, you can see the trail that the ferry leaves behind, when crossing from the mainland. I generally have a pleasant trip with a cup of coffee and the daily newspaper, but not today...
