I watch too much TV, but no MTV.
Shows that I watch: The Office My Name is Earl 30 Rock Scrubs Lost Desperate Housewives Conan O'Brien Heroes Assy McGee Beauty and the Geek (very funny reality show) The Apprentice (Trump is always good for a laugh) And sometimes I watch these things because my family watches them and I used to watch them with my family: Survivor The Amazing Race American Idol What else is there... My friend made me Tivo 24, recently. So I might start watching that. |
MTV last great show was Daria. That was it. Also this is just one factor of many that is making the U.S. into a cultural wasteland.
|
I watch Fox News all the time. I'm serious, it's the funniest thing on TV. I watch the Fox Report with Shepard Smith early in the morning before I go to school. Fox and Friends is pretty funny too, because none of them look like they know what's going on and they have Kung Fu instructors on discussing the latest scandal at Disneyworld. I love it.

its a shame. the so-called "generation next" to which we 16-30 year olds share, seems to base itself entirely on MTV and the like.

here's my contribution to the discussion: your news are some 25 years behind or something. 30? how fucking old is mtv anyway? and bart simpson was going to corrupt children. |
What's new?
But seriously, everything that's been stated in this thread, I was preaching from the rooftops at 15. Till my lungs burned. World's still turning. Got to see those boy-bands die out. That was cool. Their simpering corporate refuse still clots the brain-tricles of our young, but whatcha gonna do? Complain more? Or take some sort of (arguably pointless) action? |
old fucking news

Are you calling me old, I need my glasses I can't see.

It's not just music. It's this whole mass produced global culture... or "Globo-Corp" as I like to call it. The kids just don't know any better. Can't even dream of a world without Madonna or Axe Body Spray. I'd ramble on, name a whole lot more in the way of mindless bullshit, but that would be a waste of my time and energy. So, I say... Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all. |
Madonna is perfect. It's the copycats who took what she had and made it worse.
|
Madonna's a whore.
|
No, that is just a persona, she puts on. That is just her being creative.
|
Uh-huh.
She's Marilyn Manson with tits. She's a whore. |
No-no you are not comprehending, that she is just using sex to sell. That there is brilliant. Albeit that now sex sells more, and numbs the brain of kids. But what she did was groundbreaking.
|
Dude... people have used sex to sell since the dawn of time. It's nothing new. She did nothing but eke a brand name out of it. Whoop-de-fuckin'-doo.
|
I know people have used sex to sell before, but not like her. She actually showed everything to the mainstream. Just look at her book. That is what I mean.
|
![]() she was famous before the book though. the book was shit as a book except for the jackoff pics. |
Which swings it back to the Marilyn Manson thing. Provocation for the sake of provocation is fine and all, but it's still a gimmick. A schtick. It gets old fast.
The media portrays her as this "master of reinvention"... constantly changing up styles and all that. Fuck that. Emperor's new clothes. A different shade of eyeliner and a new hair-do and all of a sudden she's "on to that next wave." That's kack. Pure and simple. It's the fashion industry. Which brings me to yet another point I feel I've only hinted at in previous posts... how EVERYTHING has been fucking swallowed up by the fashion industry these days. At least, as far as popular culture is concerned. You want your "ultimate evil" responsible for irreparably damaging the minds of our youth... that's it. Right there. THE MOTHERFUCKING FASHION INDUSTRY. Madonna's just a symptom. Revolution is the only cure. |
