Open bar as in free you mean? At a wedding? You must be joking. There might be a bottle of wine on each table that's gratis but beyond that...

truncated 02.09.2007 12:03 PM

No wonder you're all so damned sour.

Phlegmscope 02.09.2007 12:09 PM

Tonight I'm going out and meet friends.
tomorrow I'm seeing these guys, unless the gig is sold out.

Sunday will be dedicated to work.

Toilet & Bowels 02.09.2007 12:09 PM

knowing the english and their drinking habits i think it's probably in the best interests of all involved if there isn't an open bar at weddings.

compulsive diarrhea, jico 02.09.2007 12:11 PM

wtf are you talking about. there's always open bar at weddings.

cuetzpalin 02.09.2007 12:24 PM

Kegmama, is your grandma doing well?

I have mixed feelings on those. I would value them, but probably not enough to pay anything exorbitant for them. And I already own those, so I'd be less inclined to buy them. I'm the type of person who cannot resist opening and using collectible items, most especially books. I leave books in the sun, drop them in the bath, etc. Dedicated collectors would cry at my behavior.

How much are they starting out at, or is that confidential?

Toilet & Bowels 02.09.2007 01:14 PM

he said thet're probably worth £50 each, he's also selling a dean r koontz book that has the starting price of £200. he works for a rare book dealer.
personally my attitude towards books is the same as yours, i don't understand this whole thing of collecting first editions. as long as the books spine isn't broken i think they look better slightly battered, it shows they've been enjoyed.

truncated 02.09.2007 01:24 PM

Likewise. I can't understand not wanting to utilize something for its intended purpose.

Dean Koontz sucks abysmally. You couldn't pay me 200 bucks to take it off his hands.

Savage Clone 02.09.2007 01:55 PM

Dean Koontz is even worse than S. King. Total supermarket checkout impulse-buyer fare.

Anyway, away from rubbish novelists and back to weekend plans if I may. After the cancellation I am going to a friends house for some drinks. She's Brazillian and last time I saw her she said she had a Brazillian record I might like and that is 'quite rare'. I'm hoping she'll bust out an Os Mutantes LP or Caetano Veloso's first LP and let me look at it and possibly touch it. And tomorrow I am going to the theatre to see To Kill A Mockingbird...woop.

truncated 02.09.2007 02:02 PM

I'm honestly surprised that the two of you (SC & Iain) do not recognize the technical genius of Stephen King, even if you think he writes rubbish. I shed a tear for your fall from my pedestal.

Iain - one of the few people on this forum who would post a reference to a Brazilian chick, and not make a crack about waxing. Kudos.

Iain 02.09.2007 02:06 PM

Haha...yes. I might have done if I had my wits about me. I don't think King is that bad, honest...I was just foolin'

I went to Subway with a couple friends, and I'm going to see Pan's Labyrinth in a couple hours. I might go to a friend's house afterwards. I don't know though, it might be too late then.

truncated 02.10.2007 06:52 PM

I'm getting old. I just want to sleep now.

Savage Clone 02.10.2007 06:57 PM

Five hours on a frozen lake today.
I'll have to see if I'm up to going out tonight after this.
Getting old indeed!

ondskan 02.10.2007 08:32 PM

It's 2 AM, and I just got home from a really boring party. Attending parties while being sober sucks. This whole weekend has been a real bore, it sucked!

truncated 02.10.2007 08:38 PM

Diesel, I thought you were dead by now.

truncated 02.10.2007 08:45 PM

I'm glad you're not. You make me feel far less embarrassed about my intoxicated antics.

noumenal 02.10.2007 09:35 PM

Conference over. In Bloom.

Clementine. 02.10.2007 10:00 PM
