I’ve talked to a lot of people who don’t love the 2013 In Utero mix but frankly I don’t get it. Sounds great to me.

By the third spin this somewhat freeform monster really began to take shape and make sense to me. It's a beautiful record.

thanks for the recommendation, I listened to it, didn't like it so much. but I possibly will give it another try in a short while. I did like the music of some songs actually
It reminded me somehow of medieval music, and his voice reminded me of this concert I once attended. It was a festival many years ago, some artist I was seeing only because I had just seen the artist prior to him and wanted to see the one that was playing after him and I was too lazy to walk to a different venue. At first I thought his vocals were horrible, but towards the end like witchcraft I was hooked. Had to do big time googling to remember who this was: twinsistermoon. Listening now to his only album that's on bandcamp:
https://badabingrecords.bandcamp.com...r-cult?from=hp

it's a three part album, first part Isengold, second part twinsistermoon third part the combined effort known as natural snow buildings. I fast forwarded though Isengold, but the other two parts are good stuff. Heck if you like long songs, check out the other releases by natural snow buildings!: 25 tracks, 342 minutes and 18 tracks, 441 minutes or 6 tracks, 178 minutes

sorry for the offtopicness, but anything is better then in utero

You and me both! Add 'Rid of Me' to the list too. That thing sounds like it's being played through pillows. An unforgivable Albini hatchet-job, IMO.

I saw them for $15 in like 2004. Just looked at tickets and they’re upwards of $100. Same with Pavement. Like goddamn lmao

Come to think of it, these Time Out Of Mind shenanigans are closer to The Velvet Underground's third album: the Val Valentin mix vs the "closet mix". Again, gotta have them both.:)

Severian 02.10.2023 07:08 AM

New Yo La Tengo sounds very Yo La Tengo-y and awesome

New Flume is rather unexpectedly quite good

It might honestly be their best since And Then Nothing, which is insane to think about.

New Gorillaz album sucks, like a 6/10 at best.

I think Fade is YLT’s best since back in the day.

I hurried through the discography to make sure I had caught up before the new one, Popular Songs was the one I'd rated highest from the 21st century (no, 2000 doesn't count) but this is definitely at least second-best of that.

I know the year 2000 is not part of the 21st century, lmao.
But anyway, Fade slaps, very good indeed.

I think Constellation will announce a new Efrim Menuck album next Wednesday, or maybe for ALL HANDS_MAKE LIGHT. They already accidentally posted a message on Bandcamp about a discount offer for it yesterday, then retracted it ...

SQÜRL – Silver Haze (5.5)

Skuj 03.11.2023 10:46 PM

Meredith Moon - Constellations - 31 Mar.

I've been digging her new song that appeared on CBC Radio. I ordered the album.

And then I found out that her dad is some guy called Lightfoot.

_tunic_ 03.25.2023 07:03 AM

this won't be the best or most anticipated album of 2023 but definitely one of the coolest releases. It's already sold out though ...

The Folk Implosion - It Just Goes With...

See Lou Barlow's Instructional Video!

Bardo Pond - Peel Sessions (22.4)

The Soup Nazi 03.30.2023 01:22 AM

Jenny Lewis - Joy'All (June 9)

"I'm not a psycho
I'm just trying to get laid
I'm a rock n roll disciple
In a video game..."

The Soup Nazi 03.30.2023 03:49 AM

Molina, Talbot, Lofgren and Young - All Roads Lead Home (March 31). Credited just the way you just read it; not to Crazy Horse.

Cowboy Junkies - Such Ferocious Beauty (June 2)

Skuj 04.01.2023 12:31 AM

1. BC,NR....they did a damn good job sans Isaac. They have a future.

2. Lana Del Rey....DYKTTATUOB.....even the acronym is long ....but fuck, this album delivers. (Sue me, Nazi.)

Skuj 04.03.2023 08:38 PM

Swans - The Beggar - June 23rd.

It's another 2hr Motherfucker, with one track that is 44min.

4 of the gang from the 2010-2017 years are still there.

This is my fav band, and the only band that I made the trouble to see over the last....um....40 years.

If song titles and lyrics are anything to go by, this could be the last one.

Lead song Paradise Is Mine can be found here: https://younggodrecords.com/collecti...cts/the-beggar

It's hypnotic/morose. 3 listens and I'm hooked.

The Soup Nazi 04.07.2023 04:04 PM

Lucinda Williams - Stories From A Rock N Roll Heart (June 30)

The Soup Nazi 04.13.2023 04:52 PM

Bob Dylan - Shadow Kingdom: soundtrack vinyl/CD June 2, feature film download/rental (no DVD or Blu-Ray, apparently ) June 6.

Skuj 04.23.2023 01:43 PM

Liturgy, anyone?

_tunic_ 04.24.2023 02:29 AM

No thanks. I just had my breakfast. Maybe later

Skuj 04.24.2023 06:37 PM

Good one!

The new album, 93696....it's er....it's er.......

The Soup Nazi 04.25.2023 09:21 PM

PJ Harvey - I Inside The Old Year Dying (July 7). On Partisan Records, which if I'm not mistaken makes it her first non-Island album ever, not counting the All About Eve, The Virtues, and Bad Sisters soundtracks.

Wye Oak - Every Day Like The Last (June 23). Three new songs plus all six singles released since 2019.

The Soup Nazi 04.27.2023 04:31 AM

Donny McCaslin - I Want More (June 16)

Yes. The 2CD is coming to me.

_tunic_ 04.30.2023 06:37 AM

I listened to that Liturgy album a few days ago (while cooking dinner actually) and it was the most discomfortable experience I had in a long while. Definitely not my cup of tea that.
With every song I thought: "why am I listening to this, why am I still listening to this" :)
still I endured and listened to the full thing. I'm so proud of myself now

Every now and then I see a "bad" review that makes me want it even more.

Moshe 05.02.2023 01:24 PM
