that made my night.

super roots 10?
|
Holy fucking fuckiddy fuck-fuck.
I just got done watching those clips from the YouTube and wow.....what an aural and visual assault. It should be interesting to see the different recordings that pop up because (depending on where they were recorded) they could sound slightly different depending on which drummer or two was the closest to where the recorder was sitting.....their fills would obviously be more discernible than others. Just think if all of the sets were mic'd!!! Now that be an insane recording!!! I'm glad to see the confirmation from Chabib that there will in fact (*crosses fingers) be an offical dvd release of this.....it should be pretty awesome footage because you can see from the YouTube stuff a guy snaking his way through the drumpit throughout the performance.....fucking right, man. I wonder if anyone got any aerial shots of this?? Those would be pretty wild to see. Surely some more pics will surface in the next few days. |
haha i m sorry but this thing seems retarded, its bad enough hearing one drummer do a stupid little solo thing....
|
It wasn't one massive solo.....it was conducted and had several impressive ebbs and flows. Just thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies.
|
Aerial video was definitely shot. If you look at some of the clips on YouTube and even the two posted on Google, you can see a scissor lift in the background at times depending on the position of the person with the camera. That's where the aerial video was happening!
|
nothing the boredoms do can be retarded.
|
Quote:
that's not totally true, but just because it's retarded doesn't mean it can't be awesome. |
Quote:
you just don't like drums, huh? bad experience with NYPD and a drumstick? maybe a timpani mallet? |
genius all the way, even when on the surface seems retarded.
|

i had 6 HD cameras, 2 high end DV cameras, a 43' scissor lift, lipstick cams on some of the drum kits and shooters who i really fucking hope took my direction... i also shot the rehearsals. yoshimi made me wear the frog costume i wore in the peace attack video while i filmed from within the spiral. |
and how did you capture the audio of all these drums?
|

magic. |
Looks very cool. Corsano should've been on that list.
|
Agreed! He did a great work with Death Unit
|
Corsano lives in Scotland now though, so that's pretty far away.
found a review here: http://17dots.com/2007/07/08/eyyyyyy...ay-77-drummers ![]() Apart from his usual synths/samplers/etc eYe was playing 7 guitars at once it seems... or maybe not really "playing" them as much as just hitting the strings or whatever. ![]() I hope you'll be using that magic also in the editing and finishing chabib! (if you're the one who's going to do that at least) |
I can't even imagine the amount of editing this thing will need (and deserves)...
|
well, there's 46 hours of footage so far and i still have some interviews left to shoot.
|
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I just hope it won't be released as a superlimited edition or something too hard to get a copy of....
Oh, Chabib, while you're "here" could you sticky this thread http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/showthread.php?t=11867 , pretty please? |
You're going to need a couple of terabytes to capture all that material, and there better be enough memory & cache so that Final Cut can handle that amount of HD footage. Good luck.

we shot in 24p. it would have been suicidal to do it at 1080i. |

this excites me to no end.
not being able to be there (i spent the weekend in florida, owning people at puzzle fighter.. whoa!), seeing a DVD of this will be my most wanted item of forever... the boredoms have never done anything retarded, they somehow make silence a fucking orgasmic experience.. they basically invented their own sound TWICE and even after this long they still continue to be the most influential musicians in my life... i own everything they have done, and if i had more money i'd gladly buy it all and distribute to others to fully understand and recognize the sheer genius of eYe and the gang... and not only are the boredoms amazing, but all their offshoots are phenomenal as well. i always knew boredoms were the most magical band in the history of music, and now i know that this is confirmed. they can do no wrong... basically, it's like my quote below says. |

I know it's not boredoms, but hanatarash released a 7" called "Total Retardation" Amusing, I find EDIT: Yeah, a dvd would be superb. And I'm wasted so the above has little relevance to anything. |

Drummer # 50! is my bandmate! in Bare Flames (however now extinct) but we have a duo project called Sensitivity Training. David Grubbs plays drums? thats one intense list of drummers, if my brother wasn't getting married last weekend i would've been all over this performance! |
17 Brian Tamborello (Psychic Ills)
That's an odd choice. |

As those pictures tell, nice frog costume indeed chabib.
|
to make long story short i got there at 3 pm waited for 3h:45 min and didnt get in. i saw allison from awesome color at 6:30 talking to her friends about 10 feet away from me and she was telling them she could not get them in. it was a tough situation. watched from the brooklyn bridge, it was still awesome.
and btw- im really fucking glad chabib did the video for this. cant wait to see it. |

|
what
i bet this will sound like ass thanks though downloading now |
Not the greatest sound quality indeed, but alright for a 128kb mp3. At least it's the entire thing. Now let's hope the DVD isn't going to take years to finish... speaking of which, I just read this quote on the southern lord board:
"yeah. looks like i'm delivering 20 or so 3-5 minute mini-films first to the boredoms for approval, then to VICE to put on VBS. then in the winter, the boredoms' japanese videographer and i will co-direct a mega-dvd boxset that spans the past 14 years of the boredoms' work which VICE records will sponsor/release. i have some pop tatari era NY performances and seven years worth of seadrum performances around the world (archive spans 14 years) as well as a bunch of the boredoms side projects. jun has lots of their rehearsals and performances in japan--including the super-rare footage of the band recording seadrum with their drum kits set up in the incoming tide on a japanese beach and the show on new years eve of 2000 when, as the clock struck 12, they immediately transitioned in mid performance from a punk noise band into the seadrum project." |
holy fucking shit. that's amazing.
hopefully the dvd will also feature omoide hatoba performances too. |
hey
this mp3 sounds great!!!!! |
