i think people should do what is right for them (Which does not mean getting mcdonalds for every meal and sitting on your ass, fatty!)

Well, yeah. But that sort of diet is encourage more often than eating nothing but rabbit food. I just don't get it. :( |
you can have a heart attack from being too thin and blowing rails. you can have a heart attack from being obese and blowing rails (of cheeto dust)
|
Exactly! But everyone praises a fat celebrity woman who will bounce around all over the beach in a bikini with cottage cheese thighs (I had to throw in another cheese+thighs reference). Skinny women get hounded for being "dangerously thin" on magazine covers everyday.
|
no shit. i think i look normal, but very thin. like, i do not look like i'm dying, but i definitely have no extra fat to spare.
|
i like meat
|
we know.
|
I like fish...
|

she's hot too because she has no visible cheese or rolls. and her tits are great. but i felt too big when i didn;t have the body of a 12 year old (with tits, of course)
|
Breasts are important. I'm fond of mine, as well. I really appreciate their form.

Perhaps it's because people fear becoming fat, whereas no one really worries about becoming too skinny. Skinny is seen as something that you have to deliberately work for to achieve, whereas fat is seen as something that happens when you get lazy. As much as people like to criticize the skinny girls, they are still the ones upheld as examples of modern beauty, whereas fat girls are not. And if they are, it's an alternate kind of beauty that is still not accepted by the majority even though it represents the majority. So anyway, yes, I think people are less likely to openly criticize fat people because they think it's more likely that they themselves could end up that way (whether it's sooner or later in life), as opposed to suddenly becoming too thin. At least, that's one reason I can think of. People fear obesity. I don't think they fear it because it's deadly (same goes for being too skinny), but because it's seen as unattractive. As for my taste in other people's appearances, it seems to be "not dainty", which goes for men and women both. I am more forgiving of daintiness in men, probably just because it's so far from the norm for them, and therefore can be interesting. But in women... I just like the solid look. Kind of boyish, but not thin. With men...I think the rail-thin rockstar look is so overdone. I like people who can carry some extra weight. When it comes down to it, I like cute people. I know a lot of people here like their guys to be very tall and skinny. My brothers look that way...so maybe that's why I prefer shorter guys with a little more to them. That's not a rule or anything, but I am drawn to that. Where Kate Moss is concerned, she's kind of meh. Her face isn't what I would find attractive. She can be very pretty at times, but yeah, her face is still like a child's face. I don't care for that. She's a good model I guess...I don't know shit about modeling...but it seems to be working for her, so that's great. I have nothing actually bad to say about her. And I think Anna Nicole was highly attractive. Her body type and facial features were very unlike my own, so I find that fascinating. |
This isn't hot:
![]() Just like this isn't hot: ![]() I think that the key is finding the balnce between the two and not letting the media influence you either way. People should be healthy and that looks different for every person. Pro anorexic, anti anorexic....whatever. Be healthy. The Overweight Gila monster look isn't gonna help and neither is the boney termite one. Repose. |
Yes! Exactly. Anorexia is something a person (appraently) "works" for. It's easy to be fat...
But I still see people patronizing women who are more on the fat end of the spectrum. If a women is slightly over weight- "that's fabulous!". However, when she is slighty under weight, bring out the criticism. Suddenly she's heading down the road of anorexia, death, and whatever else comes with this package. |
That first one is so obviously photoshopped, but a point well made.

I totally agree, I say somewhere in between is good. One of the worrying things I find about people at this point in time is that they don't really know what a healthy weight is. In terms of guys and girls I think someone looks attractive when they look healthy, not too skinny. I don't like guys that look like a rake or girls, irrespective of if the girls have large breasts, in fact big breasts on rakey girls somehow make them look even more freaky to me. |

People throw around the word "healthy" a lot, even though it doesn't really mean anything to them. How can anyone really know if another individual is healthy or not? By looking at them? I doubt it. And does being unhealthy automatically make a person unattractive? I would say no to that as well. Whenever I go to the doctor, it always seems like I have yet another problem that needs to be taken care of or dealt with or whatever, but no one would know unless I told them. "Healthy" is just another buzzword. For some reason now, it's only brought up in relation to weight. |
healthy is a buzzword. if you have a tan, people will tell you you look healthy, but as we all know tanning is extremely bad for you.
|
I would rather be the size I am (which is small, I've had people asking me my whole life if I have an eating disorder) than to be curvy or anything. There are many, many really beautiful heavy girls and curvy girls, but personally my ideal body type is pretty skinny.
I get pretty fucking sick of hearing about how skinny girls are nasty, because some people are just naturally like that. Just because a girl isn't naturally skinny, doesn't make it right to ridicule them. I don't think enough people in the world really understand eating disorders. I don't think enough people in the world understand mental illness in general. If I'm too skinny for your taste, keep it to yourself and don't tell me to go eat something. It pisses me off because that's not something you should even say to a person with an eating disorder if you truly care about them. Not that I have an eating disorder, obviously. But yeah, some people need to read a little a learn some things. Anyways, pro-anorexia is triggering for people with eating disorders, and people who aren't happy with they way they look. People go to these sites looking for a disorder, not realizing what a serious illness an eating disorder really is. Not that it makes it healthy or right or anything, but serious eating disorder boards don't allow people looking for disorders to join or see what they're even writing about. They're still an awful form of support group though, although an actual eating disordered person probably wouldn't try to convince someone to not go get treatment. |

Yeah apparently I always look sick because I'm pale. I bet you've gotten that too eh? Fucking dumb. |
I don't think you're too skinny, Emmah, you look like a normal weight to me
|
i'm as pale as they come. i don't tan, i burn.
|
jesus fucking christ. seriously.
|
I always been a skinny guy, never have I been more than 130. Is just that the media emphasize way too much on being skinny. It is natural for a girl to be that skinny and being "healthy." However, it is bad when these girls who grow up with images of the media don't feel up to par with it. I am not blaming girls I am blaming society for getting this way. Also people who starve themselves, or throw-up everything up after eating just really destroys their body.

that is very well said, emmah. i'm seriously bothered by some of the comments in this thread though. |

I think so too. I don't get it at all though, because people tell me that I'm too skinny all the time. They assume I have a baby carrot, cut it into three sections, and eat a piece for every meal each day. I eat like a pig, if my metabolism wasn't so high I'd be really big haha. It's all luck really, all in the genes. |

Me too, I'm going to be a fucking lobster when I go to Trinidad and Tobago. I need like 100 sunscreen or something. |

you really should. AND! wear sunscreen. pale is glorious. |
I find pale chicks very attractive. GIVE ME PALE!!!

meh don't worry about what people say, some people will just say that to everyone, like when I'm in Australia noone makes any comments about my weight but when I go to Croatia or Serbia I always get comments that I'm too skinny I guess cause they say that to anyone that's kinda thin in a normal way |
trying to bite my tongue, so in a polite way (which is not my nature) ... all i'm gonna say is... be who you are, but if you are also going to say this (or act like you agree with it)... don't perpetuate the idea that anyone different than you is wrong/groteseque/bad/ugly/whatthefuckever.. and quit with the hypocrisy.
i hope my point is clear even though that "sentence" is horrid. |

I don't really go in the sun just cause my sis got a chronic illness which exposure to the sun was apparently party at fault for so I have been paranoid about the sun for a long time now, so yeah I can't remember if I was ever actually tanned |
