But really... purple is the best color. Having a Marshall with purple tolex only makes it cooler.

Oh, and Peavey's not all crap.
Most of it is of course, but at least it's crap that doesn't break.
However, they make some decent models on occasion.
Our bassist uses a Peavey Classic 400 tube head that sounds incredible.
Heavy as shit too; my Major head is heavy, but the 400 is a beast. Eight 6550s!

I know it's rare for sure. Normally I'm into the all-black, but I must admit I enjoy the distinctiveness of having the only purple head in the room.
That thing is LOUD. 200 watts is a lot.
And phoenix, no serious offense was taken; Prince can tear it up on guitar.

phoenix 01.29.2008 06:53 PM

it has a quality lecky tape rig going for it there at the moment, most awesome.

such a mish mash, it has a sonor kick pedal from the guy who used to own it. Bought a new kit but hearted his old kick too much to part with it.

But I love it to bits, though I do need to replace skins on one of my toms. Kind of almost got on fire... :p Not good for the sound.

Glice 01.29.2008 06:56 PM

Shithouse guitar. Whacking great amp. Mid-range clarinet. Violin with 2 Wolf tones (both Cs on the D and E string). Jazz acoustic. Couldn't tell you names unless the instruments were in front of me. I can play the shit out of them all though. I have other instruments, but I very much doubt anyone's interested in my preferred brand of banjolele, are they?

phoenix 01.29.2008 07:00 PM

of course they are. well I am and I made the thread, so post away.

Savage Clone 01.29.2008 07:00 PM

I can't believe Glice participated in a gear nerd thread.

If it's any consolation, I feel quite unwell now.

phoenix 01.29.2008 07:10 PM

so you play a banjo? or some other middle eastern type thing? the more obscure the cooler it will be..

Savage Clone 01.29.2008 07:16 PM

This one is pretty obscure; one of a kind, in fact.
I had this one custom built. It combines elements of sitar, bouzouki, dulcimer and guitar. It's also electric.

phoenix 01.29.2008 08:10 PM

thats nuts.

what does it sound like?

Savage Clone 01.29.2008 08:11 PM

The track "clearing" on this page is a solo on this instrument.

phoenix 01.29.2008 08:16 PM

I cant download it and I'm happy listening to what I've got on itunes atm :P

but I will listen later..

did you play anything particular like it before you had it made? or you just wanted a sound in between?

YES!!

The finish is called Emerald Mist, but I'm pretty sure Pearl changed the name to something else.

My next set of non-electronic drums will be a Ludwig Vistalite set ala John Bonham....they really bring the thunder.

king_buzzo 01.30.2008 02:31 PM

Phlegmscope 01.31.2008 08:43 AM

I'd really want an old and cheap piece of shit synth. Something like casio sk-1. I could fuck around with it while learning the basics of the piano.

Yeah, that's a pretty cool site....I know I've come across it before.

I think I'll get either a black, dark blue, or maybe even a grey set of Vistalites one day. Green is my favorite color, but I def. want to get a different color next time.

Playing a mic'd set of these would be insane!!!
