touch me i'm sick 01.31.2008 10:09 PM

when i was little i was jumping on a couch and landed to far forward. i hit the corner of a glass coffee table on the conrner of my mouth. it bled like none other. i have a small dent near my lip from it.

this has happened several times. it's not the most painful painful but makes me cringe: when i have to get a tooth pulled and they inject novacaine in my mouth, i always manage to chew off a big chunk of my cheek. anfter the numbing is gone, i can feel the terrible sting of the chunk missing.

Haha.
I fell doing parkour onto my should from about ten or twelve feet. It still hurts a year later. I ended up walking home while suffering the effects of a cuncussion. My vision was 90% gone as i crossed the streets to get home fucking scarey.

actually it hurt really bad when that wiimote chipped my tooth.
i'm not that succeptible to pain however i'm in quite a bit of pain at the moment but i'm handling it.

Haha yeah. I have crazy high pain tolerance. Kinda weird, but in a sick way I'm proud of it.

avantgarde1 01.31.2008 10:17 PM

when i lived in san diego i fell off a 30 foot cliff and and shattered my left wrist. the bone wasn't sticking out of the skin but it damn near was. i now have a metal wrist... i am bionic! nah but for real that shit hurt like the dickens.

Oh the graphic, the graphic.

This made me feel some sympathy twinges. Ever get that. You see or hear about some bad injury and you feel a pain in your own body. When I read that bit about the coffee table, I felt this strange ping in my right shoulder. I don't know why there. And then immediately this tightening in my stomach. All involuntary.

Often I'll get these sympathy twinges, no matter where the pain or injury is in the other person, in my groin, in my balls.

I also get nauseated if I have to accompany anyone into a doctor's exam rooom, even if it's just something routine and insignificant. Taking my kids when they were little, for example, for their physicals, I'd break out in a cold sweat--while the doctor would be talking to me about their health, I'd be sitting there cold and clammy and trying to hold it together, my head getting lighter and lighter.

Cantankerous 01.31.2008 11:23 PM

i bit a huge chunk out of my cheek once chewing gum and i spit blood all over the place.

gmku 01.31.2008 11:24 PM

I read that and now I'm going to throw up.

Cantankerous 01.31.2008 11:26 PM

i could re-open the wound with my teeth and spit blood at people whenever i saw fit. it was pretty cool, man.

gmku 01.31.2008 11:29 PM

Handy.

Pax Americana 02.01.2008 01:28 AM

I broke my ankle once, roller skating with a friend of mine. That was pretty bad. I didn't know it was broke at the time so I kinda limped home on it from my friend's house. When my mom saw that my ankle was swollen and all black and blue she pretty much instantly put me in the car and took me to the hospital. I was on crutches for six weeks.

When I was real little I fell against a wood buring stove and burned the entire palm of my hand quite badly. I don't remember it at all, but it's one of those things that gets brought up by the family occasionally.

Cantankerous 02.01.2008 01:31 AM

OH i do remember actually
when i was like six i fell over and my hand landed on a board with two rusty nails conveniently poking through. went damn near all the way through my hand.
another incident was when i was like four and i wanted my curly straw and my mom was really smart and decided to keep it in the KNIFE DRAWER so i went in to get it and cut my thumb down to the bone on a meat cleaver.
i've also had one of my teeth knocked out playing football (soccer football, not neanderthal football, and it was a baby tooth), which hurt really bad, fingernails ripped off playing as well and my knee almost dislocated.

Norma J 02.01.2008 02:09 AM

Mid last year, I had severe pains in my abdomal (spelling?) area for about 2 months or more, turned out my appendix had burst and I'd been messing around with my diet for the month thinking I was celiac. That was pretty excruciating.

I've broken my ankle and both wrists (not at the same time) and had stitches, and fell backwards off a decking and knocked my two front teeth out and was in and out of conciousness all the way to hospital.

But I'd have to say that burns are the worst. Which luckily enough, I've only ever had minor.

SYRFox 02.01.2008 02:21 AM

From what I remember, when I fell on marble stairs six years ago. I felt inconscious and broke my wrist - I had luck though, I could have had a shock or something broken in my head, which didn't happen.

This musn't be the worst pain I ever felt though, as, when I was really young, someone threw me a like, 3 kilograms rock on the top on the head, and I got burned on the cheek by a flatiron. But I don't remember those pains, this was too far in my past.

Cantankerous 02.01.2008 03:17 AM

oh getting a cigarette dropped on you is no fun either.

Pushed? Not quite. I was riding a BMX at the time, and fell 4 meters onto a concrete slab. Head-first.

Kidney stones, a bad toothache and serious migraines are also high on the list.

_slavo_ 02.01.2008 04:25 AM

See, now I'm getting into the limits of my English knowledge. Hard to describe how painful that was.

It was like 4 years ago, when something started growing on my arm, I don't know what it was or whatever the fuck is the term for naming that thing. The doctor said they needed to cut it out so I said yeah, why not. They gave me anesthesis to make my arm numb but it failed to work, it naturally had no effect on me. And then the doctor started cutting out that thing off my arm and I was screaming screaming screaming scraming screaming screaming.

Hell, it lasted like 10 minutes. 10 minutes of pure, unleashed pain of knife cutting through my body. Too bad I did not pass out and had to live through that.

atsonicpark 02.01.2008 07:24 AM

Back surgery.

I had scoliosis, there are two steel rods in my back, they cut open my whole back, yeah, catheter in my dick, the whole thing, couldn't walk for a week and a half.

Overall... Worst pain ever.

Torn Curtain 02.01.2008 08:29 AM

Just one very strong toothache and a few severe migraines.

sonicl 02.01.2008 08:37 AM

I don't think I've ever done anything that has resulted in severe pain. I burn my hand quite frequently, taking stuff out of the oven and forgetting that it's hot, but a good string of swear words is normally enough to anaesthetise that.

Same with me I think. Never anything I could remember for a lifetime.
As for burns. About a year and a half I ago I asked my friend to put out a cig into my hand. Apparently he didn't take it off immediately, but instead let it burn there for a moment. Anyway, took about a month for it to even show signs of healing. Now I have a insensitive little purple scar in the center of my hand. The whole thing didn't really hurt much.

king_buzzo 02.01.2008 10:16 AM

i fell down with my bike a small road which was about a meter high and the one handle missed my balls by like an inch. that whole area was blue. it wasnt so painfull though.

but

in the house i used to live in, the doors were make of wood and like surrounded my metal; one morning while going to school i caught the tip of my index figer between the door... like 1/4 of my nail was cut off and the same with the tip but the worst thing was that it didnt fall off completely; it was still atached to my finger so the doc told me to leave it like that until it heals.

it was painful, it took like 4 months to heal, it was all black and the tip still hurts when i touch it.

and then there was that one time when my friend kicked the tip of my other finger and dislocated it so the tip of my right index finger is bent like fuck and theres this little bump on it which is from the kick.

king_buzzo 02.01.2008 10:18 AM

ohh yes also there was that time when my grandma pushed my head into a corner of a ceramic fireplace. my head was was bleeding like fuck.

and i dont remember this one, but my mom fell down with me on the street when i was like 2 and i hit my head in the pavement and bled like a motherfucker. sounds painfull.

afterthefact 02.01.2008 10:27 AM

I've felt many pains, all of which I consider equally excruciating. But the one that stands out to me was when I was in 6th grade and I was running on the playground, I got too close to a wooden beam and a splinter went all of the way up under my fingernail. God, I cringe even thinking about it.

floatingslowly 02.01.2008 10:28 AM

I forgot about being born, but I'm sure it hurt like hell since I still have the scars.

tubes and needles, needles and tubes.

haha i always thought this event was the source of my mental retardation but then a little while ago my dad told me that he rubbed urine over his face when he was young and that convinced me its just my genes.

nicfit 02.01.2008 11:51 AM

no lady on here mentioned giving birth to a baby??

nicfit 02.01.2008 12:04 PM

well.
once I used to play ping pong tennis with my brother.
we closed all the doors of the hallway (that's like, 2 bathrooms'doors and 2 rooms' doors, I don't live in a castle) so the ball wouldn't get lost.
I was leaning with my hand on the door on the side where the...sorry I'm bored, I won't go on with the story.

EMMAh 02.01.2008 12:57 PM

Having kidney stones.
I had a very uncomfortable pain in my lower back on the right side, which lasted about a week and I always felt like a had to pee (although it wasn't the first time the kidneys had been a problem)
Then it got really bad because the stone was moving a lot and scrapping my inner kidney. The night I went to the hospital for it, my friend woke me up because I was moaning really loud in my sleep, after I got up I threw up more times than I can count just from the pain.
After that I was at my friend's and my kidney was hurting a lot, so I walked home and on the walk home could feel the damn thing coming out of me. Fuck that was painful, I was crying the whole walk.
The kidney stone has been the most horrible experience of my life, I still have one in my right kidney, it just hasn't really bothered me in about a year. Just mild discomfort and that's it. The fucker will be back in full force eventually.
Thank fuck I am not a guy though :D

i was in fifth grade. we lived on the pensacola bay (florida) which was really pretty, but whenever a storm came through it tended to get really bad, being right on the ocean and all. once, after one of these events, a bunch of trees got knocked over in the front yard, so my step dad had been cutting em into logs and burning em. later that night me and a friend who was spending the night snuck out. it was pretty cold out so we were sitting around these hot coals from where a fire had been earlier. i got up to go grab a log to sit on, and on the way back i walked right through the effin coals (it was dark, and since it was dark they were sorta hard to see). it was awful. i was really worried about getting in trouble for sneaking out, so i figured it important to try and deal with the situation myself instead of waking my mom/step dad up and having them bring me to the hosipital. so, my friend helped me to the other side of the house where the ocean (well..."bay") was and i got in. thinkin' the salty-cold water would help the situation (which, later id find out from my doctor that that was actually not such a bad idea...even though he laughed about how much more pain i must have been in from the salty water)

the next morning my mom found me sleeping on the couch with my foot in a bowl of water. she woke me up and asked what was wrong. i told her i was fine, but she knew i was lying once she looked closer at my foot and noticed i couldnt walk on it.

she was pissed, but i didnt really get in trouble like i thought i would. she brought me to the doctor/etc. i had to go to this whirl-pool sorta therepy for a a little while. they said id have permanent scarring but theres no scarring at all. i guess im pretty lucky.

but yeah, that shit hurt really bad.

broke a couple toes once too...no fun. this crazy girl (an ex) was chasing me around my apartment. i cut a corner too fast tryna run into my room (we were just playin around) and ran my toes right into a wall a couple of em turned bluish/blackish after a few days.bleh. i was smart enough not to go to the doctor though, since they cant really do anything about broken philanges. i just taped em up myself.

Shitty haha.

Cantankerous 02.02.2008 12:33 AM

i've got it!

THE MOST utterly excruciating experience of my life:
i had let my roots get very long, 3 inches maybe, and i bleached them but they turned orange. i thought "fuck it, i'm just going to have to have another go at this," which was a huge mistake. i put more bleach on what i had just bleached and it ate sores into my scalp. i actually started to cry from the pain, which is rare.
so there you have it.

That would kill. I've never been burned by bleach but I watched it happen to my friend. It's made me itchy, but that's not too bad at all haha.

Cantankerous 02.02.2008 12:46 AM

it hurt SO BAD. believe me, if it reduced me to tears, it hurt. i had to rinse the bleach off and i went around with orange roots until the sores healed.
