I've been to Papa Jazz some but don't really frequent it, I should but I've been pretty slack on getting any new music the last year or so. I'm actually more familiar with the Greenville and Spartanburg area (did my undergrad in Spartanburg). I'm just in Columbia for grad school, and want to get back to somewhere with some topography. Gotta say SC was a culture shock for me at first... from Atlanta originally, but I'll never go back to that hellhole. Give me the upstate and western NC any day. I was a regular at Earshot (when it was Manifest) when I was in college. |

Ok, I've been waiting on you. |
oh shit man hillary in a yellow suit attacking hope-- ha!
obama gives her points for delivery and she cackles. he's way more presidential and just fucking cool. |
i drank when she cackled
|
Yeah, I don't blame you. Columbia is all pavement.
I'm a regular at Papa Jazz, about once a week at least. Can't stay away from that new arrivals vinyl bins. Well, we shouldn't hijack this thread anymore. Politics is going on. The fate of the free world could be hanging by a thread--this one! ha ha. |

yikes, she's having some trouble with this one.
|
shoot myself in the facia
|
oh "i'm a little busy right now"
get a fucking accountant!! LIAR |
obama's so smooth
|
I don't know. Can we really elect an "Obama" to the White House? It sounds so foreign. Now Hillary. There's a good old-fashioned honest American name.

let's see what he answers with this minister thing russert is good i have to say but doesnt pursue the question to the very end |

ethnocentricity is so appealing -- a funny thing: eisenhower won right after WWII |

honest, you say? |
told you he was smooth.
|
reject and denounce!!
obama is so much fucking better at the debate today. holy ass. |
Quote:
and i don't think he's smooth a la slick willie. i believe he's truly... centered, if you know what i mean. |
This is off topic, so forgive me, and I'm not even drunk like you guys. But...
This morning out of the corner of my eye I glimpsed Hillary speaking and gesticultating to the crowd on some cable news item, and I swear she reminded me of Jagger mincing around on stage in the late 70s. A surreal flashback moment. |

I'd join you but I've resolved to exercise some restraint and drink only during work hours. |

well that was a good debate, thought he closing was a bit anticlimactic. i'm going to say obama won, he came across as a better speaker, more presidential, took the higher road on every turn, and definitely more likeable and more reasonable and certainly not a bold-faced liar. -- ps this is drink #4 and i'm having dinner afterwards & try this thing it's a very good thing: |
Pretty much all you see now is Hillary showing her true politician colors in trying to slam Obama in a last ditch effort....this debate was even more rediculous than the last.
![]() Just wait until the Replublican scum machine gets ahold of Obama in the next few months.....it's going to be ugly as fuck. Interestingly, even Mr. Conservative himself, Tucker Carlson, said that the pic of Obama trying on the turban on a 2006 visit to Kenya is complete bs. I mean, Presidents have been going around trying on other culture's local garb forever. Of course, redneck America will slurp it up with a spoon. Hopefully McCain doesn't pick a scary Vice Presidential canidate with the whole potential for heart failure and everything. ![]() |
He might pick Huckaphee to get the bible banger vote.

he looks like he could. he dissed the evanghoulists in 2000 and now he's turning around to lick their asses. without mobilizing the jeebus base the republicunts can't win, so we'll see how he manages. romney would be an alternative but the baptists think mormons are weird. |
Really? Maybe it's just that everyone I've known has overindulged on it. Anyway, I've seen some very sick people the morning after this stuff. I've never actually tasted it myself, but witnessing those awful hangers has scared me off.
I don't know my liquors very well, honestly. |
Quote:
who was it who said "candy is dandy but liquor is quicker"? anyway. i'm sure if i guzzled 2 bottles i'd be ill the next day. but why inflict punishment upon myself? i'm not trying to obliterate my shame or anything. i just enjoy a little drink now & then, and always according to the seasons. |
Quote:
Not sure. Hank Moody modified the line to "Wine is fine but whiskey is quicker" in some episode of Californication. The alteration bugged me. There didn't seem to be any justification for it in the sense of the story. |
