polvo is the worst band of all time followed by the smashing pumpkins and pavement.
i said something negative about THREE things in one sentence. actually the eagles are the worst band of all time. |
All this pessimistic negativity within Gossip recently sucks ass.

Of course I'm not going to be as good as Cantank! I mean, that's like her typecast in life.

psshh Apparently you've never seen this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s65uG...eature=related & I prefer camel lights |

camel lights are too weak (for my tastes anyway but then i've been smoking reds for years save for the occasional switch to something else) and they don't taste very good...camel filters are alright though. |
yeah. what's the point of ipods/zumes/all that shit? it sounds like shit... I have a million cd-r's/cd's, that's fine by me, an ipod couldn't even fit 10% of the music I have, and if you drop one it'll die right? I just don't see the point unless you are a teenager and your parents take a lot of road trips with you.
|
i've dropped mine loads of times and it still works fine. and if you've got decent headphones it sounds perfectly okay, not if you have those shit ones that come with it though that you just stick in your ears. the really really big ones are the best.
|
I don't have one, but I'd really like to not have to limit my CD-carrying capacity in the car.
|
CDs sound worse than mp3s
degeneration of sound quality over time etc etc not to mention it's a totally worthless disposable format much like the 8 track see: disc rot thread |
Quote:
My mp3 player can only hold about 1/5 of the music on my HDD (I have an older Creative Zen Vision M, 30GB) but being able to fit ~220 albums in my pocket is a very nice convenience. |
i like the ipod because you don't have burn mp3s to a disc then store it along with actual cds, plus i can load like three or four album at a time and have options. i did that once, burning then keeping the discs but the more it became a hassle.
i don't have a quadrillion terabites one, i have a 4 gbs one and it's great because i keep deleting and loading new shit over and over. |
Haha, I don't know if cd's sound worse than mp3's. They sound pretty much the same, unless the mp3 bitrate is encoded low. But I see your point.
I like cd's.. I like things with character.. I like tapes (and VHS tapes for movies) because I like things to get scratchy and poppy over time... which is probably a weird thing to say, but I just hate really glossy digital sounds. |
The only reason i collect CDs is because most of what I have is in that format, and I'm a little OCD in that I like it all to be uniform. Vinyl is a hassle for me, since I listen to everything in my car and on the computer, and an iPod is expensive.
Other than that, I agree that CDs are crap. |
i just like it to sound how it sounds. not like a super-produced glossy digital sound (which it absolutely will not if you have decent speakers) and not like it's been festering on a record in a basement for 30 years either.
180 gram vinyl sounds excellent if it's well taken care of and your needle doesn't need replacing (and no i am not a compulsive needle replacer like gmku...watch him come in here and be all like "tsk tsk it's a STYLUS CARTRIDGE not a NEEDLE you cretin") |
You know, I never thought of that... having an ipod, putting tons of shit on it, taking it to a friend's house and loading all the mp3's to his computer and vice-versa... that's way better than taking forever to put albums I want my friends to hear on CD-RW's or sending through soulseek.
That's actually pretty cool then. |
for glossy digital sound, blame bands using digital recording as opposed to analogue.

Oh.. yeah, the "I hate glossy digital sounds" didn't really have anything to do with what I was saying, just a comment.
What I was trying to convey was that there's no "character" to an ipod, no chance the CD might skip or something because it's all on this little computer... though I guess there's the chance I might drop the ipod and it'll make a skip! CHARACTER! I LIKE CHARACTER! |
I fucking hate phones.
|
Glossy can be good. If the music is made on electronic instruments, it usually sounds better digital. I couldn't imagine buying a Nine Inch Nails LP.

EDIT: Not security 'option'. You don't have a choice. |
^^word. Though, recording on tape, to digital editing = heaven. fuck splicing..
EDIT fuck i was too slow, that is referring to vulva's post.. |
oh.. that sucks.
... Oh, and emmah, yeah, I hate phones too. I've never had a cellphone. and I won't get one until they stop having payphones.. which I rarely use anyway. |

although if you record things in garageband it sounds pretty...not sterile. deaddiscodildo: editing tape fucking SUCKS. i hate it. |

Yeah for sure, though I'm not sure anyone edits tape the oldschool way anymore....because of that reason haha. I've never had to endure it myself, just heard war stories from the vets about editing on tape.
When we do our album we'll record it on tape and have it send to a computer where we'll edit it on digital performer...I think it will sound alright, never done it before though... |
Quote:

edit as in splicing it and all that shit right? if so, you are a champ for trying!
|
yes. i have to say it was one of the most aggravating things i've ever tried to do.

I have a cell phone haha. I hate when people talk on their phones all the fucking time, text all the time, and basically fuck their phone because they love it so much. |
Motherfucker.
