exactly that is it. the nostalgia, even if its crappy there was a time where youve got a reason to buy it, if not you wouldnt have it. so keep it

I used to freaking love TMBG when I was younger, but right now I kind of cant' even stand the sound of them. But who knows how I'll feel in a week, month, year, years?

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 11:26 AM

Hhaha oh man. The Distillers are one of the worst bnads ever. I dated a girl once who was in LOVE with them.

I match your Arab Strap and raise you a Nightwish album. Century's Child. What the fuck?

HECKLER SPRAY 08.21.2008 12:30 PM

The Pixies - Bossanova
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm (I was probably drunk)
The last Trumans Water, disappointing....

Samesies.

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 12:38 PM

the second song on that bloc party album is alright.

HECKLER SPRAY 08.21.2008 12:43 PM

Yeah, but it's just a remix of an old song.

HECKLER SPRAY 08.21.2008 12:43 PM

Like 1/4 of this album.

Trasher02 08.21.2008 12:51 PM

Siouxsie & the banshees - Once upon a time

Word up. "Hate" was okay.

I still haven't bought her latest shit fest. Which is tough for me because I'm a huge completist. I'm still buying Beck's albums for fucks sake..

noisereductions 08.21.2008 01:03 PM

I like JUKEBOX a lot more than THE GREATEST.

Most of it ? I don't have it but from the song list if 1/3 may indeed suck the other 2/3 are great (in my taste at least).

Torn Curtain 08.21.2008 01:18 PM

Regarding Siouxsie & The Banshees I regretted having bought Join hands (it's the only one of their albums I find very weak though - apart from 2 ou 3 songs).

Torn Curtain 08.21.2008 01:24 PM

Weirdly there are a few albums that I utterly stopped enjoying, and after a new listen a long time later I really loved them again. I don't know it that happen to you too.

Glice 08.21.2008 01:49 PM

I've got some pretty rank CDs that I've picked up along the way, but mostly they get re-distributed to a more appreciative owner. Lloyd Cole's Rattlesnakes, which I thought was rubbish, was given to someone who now really enjoys it. So it all works out well.

I've bought records twice, thinking I'd meant to buy it before (I had 3 of the same Patsy Cline record at one point) when in fact I recognised it from my own shelves.

The one that gets me is that I quite like Pavement a million years ago, and I have at one point owned all of their albums, long after I realised I couldn't stand them.

Trompe le Monde is probably my most listened to Pixies records.

I'm not sure if I'd include things like the non-essential Pulp albums in this though - does it count as regretful if it's completism?

Torn Curtain 08.21.2008 02:10 PM

Jeff Buckley - Songs to no one (very bad selection of songs with Gary Lucas, they haven't even included The masterpiece No one must find you here).
Jim Hendrix - First rays of the new rising sun
The Pretenders - S/T
Lou Reed - Transformer (I much prefer Berlin)

gmku 08.21.2008 02:17 PM

Funny, I see a lot of albums listed here that I absolutely love. Guess just proves that one man's trash and all that.

gmku 08.21.2008 02:18 PM

Arcade Fire - Funeral
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - first Lp

Literally bought into the hype on those.

diskaholic-anonymous 08.21.2008 03:53 PM

Band of Susans - "the peel sessions"...i don't why i bought this...but honestly the entire album is boring, sounds like a bad grunge band without any inspiration or feeling...i just can hear it one time in a year.

greedrex 08.21.2008 05:30 PM

how can anyone ever diss any Pixies LP.
u gotta buy a pair of ears.

now
i have the whole early sepûltura and obituary back catalogue on my shelves right there
that was 15 years ago
i love them though i never listen to them anyway

+ my mom bought me the last nick cave LP, that's shitty

yes, i think its a good album but not something i'd like to buy.

but i like owning it.

Pookie 08.21.2008 05:40 PM

I have owned two Pixies albums:o :o :o .

I was at a difficult time in my life, one was produced by Steve Albini. They were both fucking awful. I no longer own them.

greedrex 08.21.2008 05:47 PM

leave the Pixies alooooooooooooooooooooooooooooone

Pookie 08.21.2008 05:49 PM

I thought it was only girls who liked the Pixies?

greedrex 08.21.2008 05:53 PM

he he
you're trying to do my head in
porky style
nice try
but try again

viewtiful_alan 08.21.2008 05:56 PM

Sex Pistols live at Chelmsford Maximum Security Prison.
If you have Nevermind the bollocks there is absolutely no reason to listen to this, there aren't any fun crowd interactions, both the music and recording quality is sub par.. but I still own it and haven't sold it.

When I was in high school Pixies were mainly listened to by girls who tried too hard to be cool...

EDIT: that's just a fact, I like Pixies (well a little bit at least).

Pookie 08.21.2008 05:59 PM

In all seriousness, my wife is always surprised when she meets a man who likes the Pixies. When she was an indie kid, it was all her girlfriends who liked them. The boys liked good music.

viewtiful_alan 08.21.2008 05:59 PM

The pixies are awesome.
The end.

Naw, it just means someone is so desperate for attention that they'll do most anything to get a rise out of ya. Sorta akin to claiming to take hard narcotics every day before work.

Interesting that I've met a few people who knew the Pixies at the time and still think of them as a little bit gay (in a bad way, y'know, like how you used to be able to accuse everything of being gay without the PC brigade giving you all their 'health and safety, computer won't let me' jargon).

terminal pharmacy 08.21.2008 06:30 PM

worst musical purchase, audioslave's first album, ive listened to it once and it is still sitting on my shelf, i should sell that motherlicker

SuperCreep 08.21.2008 06:39 PM

I was pretty pissed when I bought Power Corruption & Lies by New Order. I actually do love the album, but it didn't have any liner notes or a lyrics sheet or anything. Just a flat piece of paper with the album art. And the flimsy jewel case broke instantly. I still have little shards of it in my room.

Yep, a new kind of army. Same as the song title
"We're looking to start a new army. Too smart to fight, too smart to die for you!"

that album was just mediocore.

deflinus 08.22.2008 12:10 AM

defacto - megaton shotblast

ive only listened to it a couple of times since i bought 4+ years ago. i was obsessed with at the drive-in and would buy anything associated with them.

i actually liked it though. good pre-mars volta-like spanish jizz music.

Sonic Youth 37 08.22.2008 12:14 AM

My "pre good music" period aside...
Single Album: Toss up between Kasbian's debut or Appetite For Destruction
Compilation: Pearl Jam's two disc "greatest hits". I have no idea. I thought they were OK long enough to buy this horrid mess.
Box Set: The Doors Box Set. I LOVED the Doors and still enjoy them very much, but this was the biggest waste of $60ish dollars. I already had everything on Disc 4 and the first 3 weren't worth $20 each. The booklet was even sub-subpar.
