It just makes no sense to call someone who is half "white" and half "black" black.
it reeks of the same bullshit they have pushed upon anyone with even a remote trace of "black" in them, pure racial denigration really. like Public Enemy said black man, black woman, black baby white man, white woman, white baby white man, black woman, black baby black man, white woman, black baby. hell, in this stupid fucking backwards-ass shit, a person could have 3 white grandparents and one black one (making said person 1/8 "black') and BY LAW in the USA, you are listed as "BLACK." we need to get past that shit as a nation and I hope the sight of a "mixed" man of great potential can make people realiz ejust how stupid and self-destructive such a simple thing as deciding whether someone should be labeled "black" or "white" truly is. |

actually - it was a really big deal when we elected our first Irish Catholic president with JFK - and a big to do was made about it back in the day. A big deal was being made about Lieberman being chosen as Gore's running mate back in 2000 because he's Jewish. A little deal was made when Nancy Pelosi was named Speaker of the House because of her Italian Catholic background and a biggish deal was made because of her gender. These things are big deals to a lot of people. - As an Italian American I was pretty darned psyched when Pelosi was made House Speaker. |
I wonder if those still living who remember Jim Crow laws, had parents who were slaves or ever had to take a back seat to whitey think it's a big deal.
I suspect so. |
people who are never looked down upon, or treated differently based on something they cannot change nor chose (skin color, ethnicity, nationality, infirmity, disease, handicap), or discriminated against, even in jest, because of their religion or their beliefs do not understand why it is such a BIG DEAL.
when JFK ran there was a massive uproar from fucking idiots who thought that because he was Catholic he would let the vatican run everything. Morons. Obama is also the first President elect to have been raised in Hawaii! cool. |
He is an American male, there anyone who is of two race should be called that.
