Hex Enduction Hour is my favourite.

I started off with Grotesque (their third album) and bought them chronologically from there. I recommend doing it that way though some may think their first two albums are essential (I don't personally).

Although I still stand by Perverted By Language, Bend Sinister might provide a decent intro too. 'Living too Late', 'R.O.D', 'Dktr Faustus'. Can never quite understand why this album never gets more attention.

they only did Beatle Bones n smokin Stones, its on the 6cd Peel Sessions boxset, which is absolutely essential for anyone on this messageboard

Their "early years" album is pretty essential too, even though a lot of those songs are available on subsequent reissues of the early albums.

This Nation's Saving Grace is great. So is 458489 A Sides and 39 Golden Greats. Unfortunately this is where my Fall collection ends.

What would you peeps recommend for someone who has the "classic" albums already mention and the real new fall lp?...isn't there anything between TNSG and TRNFlp worth having?

I like the Frenz Experiment and I Am Kurious Oranj both a significant amount. Infotainment Scan wasn't too bad either. Certainly prefer the early classics to the mid '80s on, but I usually like something he's doing on a given record.

Have you checked out Smith's collaboration with Mouse on Mars, Von Sudenfed yet? That ain't The Fall, but it's damn good.

Bend Sinister, The Frenz Experiment, I am Kurious Oranj and Levitate are all great albums that fit within that period you mention.

I was browsing the record store today and came across I am Kurious Oranj.

So I bought it and I enjoy it. The end.

ALL OF THEM. Seriously. Even the worst Fall album (*coughcerebralsucksdickcough*) is more worthwhile than a lot of bands' best. I'd go with the rest of the Brix-era albums first (Bend Sinister, Frenz Experiment, and I Am Kurious Oranj.)

nobody ever mentions the light user syndrome or the marshall suite... great albums!

"The Marshall Suite" is one of my Fall top five, but I'm not terribly keen on "Light User Syndrome", a few tracks excepted.

ONe possible reason for not listing "The Marshall Suite" is that its very hard to actually get hold of. Shame, because its brilliant.

Personally, I love Are You Are Missing Winner?. That one NEVER gets love.

That's another one I'm not terribly fond of, although it has grown on me a bit over the years. Personally I loved Nev Wilding's contribution to The Fall, and anything would have seemed like a bit of a comedown after his time with the group.

Crop-Dust is like....one of the best songs ever.

It's got to be the Peel Sessions Box Set. You can pick it up for the price of a used LP. It's like an extended Best Of.

Either that or Hex Induction Hour.

I have 12 fall cd's(if I count the bbc and extra disc's). Which says enough.

I've heard many a Fall album before Grotesque (well, only three, I guess), but that one was the one that convinced me I would fall in love with this band.

And I did.
