|
Quote:
Aww, good old CCR. Love that ringing guitar in 'Hey Tonight'. |
Quote:
I like the drum solo in that one. |
I'm not sure. If I'm in a black metal phase I'd probably say Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger or Mayhem's Funeral Fog (actually there's two or three amazing riffs in that song).
|
Quote:
"funeral fog" might be my favorite black metal song. |
The main riff in Bauhaus's "In the flat field", and the riff in fifths (it's not the intro riff but the one before the chorus) in the Buzzcocks's Autonomy are great too.
|
yr. pretty face is going to hell-iggy & the stooges
|
Right now it's 5-D by Live Skull. I also love Teenage Riot and Rave Down/Swervedriver. And Ten Years Gone/Zep and Are You Experienced? and...edit: Ace of Spades and Schizophrenia! just too many close calls.

not all time favorite but...definately my favorite Rolling Stones riffs...
Jumping Jack Flash. |
Ah, tough one!
Right now, I'm gonna say 'Slip It In' by Black Flag. The begininng of that song blows my mind. |
singling out one riff out of the oceans of great ones is silly, but i'll play along:
Electric Wizard "Dunwich" |
|
okay, i've decided that my all-time favorite riff is the opening riff to "electric funeral."
|
"Electricity-Captain Beefheart"
Edit: Not all time favorite, just one of them. |
Loop - Collision
|
It´s definetely the the riff in the begin of Captain Beefheart´s Moonlight on Vermount (right after the drumbo´s amazing drum fill).
Somebody asks what is riff. I think it is something that is very often played by guitar and repeating many times. There could be just one sound at the time or chords. But normal "backchords" are not riff, in riff chords change quite fast. |
some of my fav beefheart riffage is at the beginning sweet sweet bulbs and at 1/4 way into safe as milk!
fav riff at this very moment is picture book by the stinks as I've just figured it out, simple, but catchy. one of those riffs that are most naturally plucked out from the easy layout of a guitar tuned in standard. |
Death Valley 69
|
neil young is a master with riff chords, e.g., 'been waiting for you' and 'cinnamon girl' instantly come to mind.
|
Bowie's "Queen Bitch"
some already mentioned PJ Harvey O stella loads too many impossible to post A fav can't compute **BRzZzZ...OTtt*** |
Quote:
my fav rolling stones riff has to be 'can't you hear me knocking', right from the first time I saw 'blow' with jonny depp, well not with him of course haha |
how about that end riff from The Sprawl....that's a nice sweet sounding riff.
