i live by the advice given. Pot and alcohol. Sometimes shrooms and/or acid...but only under the right circumstances. I have done quite a few prescriptions, but each one once or twice. I have never done a pill more than 5 times (at least for recreation)

I think speed ruined his creativity because his jaws apparently are paralysed by it, let alone his brain.

There's no point in saying any drugs (including alcohol) are better than others. If you are not of a certain mindset or constitution you are bound to fuck up, which is the case for 90% of people. I think they are also ultimately detrimental to one's creativity, if turned into a lifestyle. There are people who can still survive regular use unscathed, but those are few and far inbetween if you compare them to all the people who destroy themselves, so it's like playing a game of russian roulette.

I think bands like Pink Floyd were able to use their drug use to make great music, only to have it ruin them later.

Yes exactly. Killed bands like Nirvana and Alice in Chains.

DeadDiscoDildo 02.05.2009 04:14 AM

I'm starting to think that drug use shouldn't be a lifestyle, even in moderation...but a necessary phase.

ZEROpumpkins 02.05.2009 05:20 AM

It can be occasional, if you ask me. I think it can be healthy to gain different perspectives on life through weed.

I'm fairly confident this is the sort of bullshit that weed smokers spout. Weed is fucking awful. It's a laugh, but there's no way it's condusive to anything other than talking complete shite. As 'marras says, it's alright for some people, but they're very rare.

barnaclelapse 02.05.2009 11:40 AM

Yeah, sorry about your friend, and I can only say that as someone who's lost a few friends to drugs and had a pretty nice speed addiction going myself for a while as well.

And, I too, would like this this thing called "fuck"...where can I pick some up?

greedrex 02.05.2009 12:34 PM

i fuck when i want, thank you.

Indeed I am a fiend. That only means that I've had experience poisoning my body with numerous chemicals and have long-lasting effects I can warn other people about. Really, it's not brain science. If a drug is going to eat up your brain and your wallet, experiment with caution.

I was unaware of this. I know a couple of tweakers who's jaws are paralyzed too. It's really sad. Speed and coke deplete your pleasure receptors because there's no need for all of them when you're all whacked out. The pleasure receptors never come back and it's hard for your brain to compensate for the lack of receptors with more pleasure chemicals.

cars_willkillyou 02.05.2009 04:27 PM

see, for the most part drugs are what makes bands fantastic. Its when they get off the drugs that they really start to suck (or die)

“M’kay, kids, you shouldn’t do drugs, m’kay, drugs are bad. You see, I was at the bottom of the barrel, I was a wreck. Why, I didn’t even care about money. I was wasting my life… You boys need to listen up, m’kay, what I’m talking about might save your life some day… Drugs are bad. You shouldn’t do drugs. If you do them, you’re bad, because drugs are bad. It’s a bad thing to do drugs, so don’t be bad by doing drugs, m’kay, that’d be bad”

"junky success stories", isn't that an oxymoron?

Don't know any of them personally, but I'm sure there are people like that?
Were Iggy Pop, David Bowie and Kim Deal not heroin users in the past?
Did they destroy their lives when they did?
enlighten me, please

edit: sorry to hear about your friend, DeadDiscoDildo. I will pray for his soul.

There's nothing "duh" about it. It needs to be said more often than it is. Be strong, bro.

Certainly there are former users who didn't destroy their lives. But I think a more important question is how many former users would honestly recommend it to others? How many of them look back and say "Yeah, that was a great idea?"

I would have much rather had heroin kill stone temple pilots, instead of alice in chains. I car3ed nothing when cocaine killed Blind Lemon

demonrail666 02.17.2009 01:49 PM

Why hasn't Paul Weller died of, well, anything?

Yup, and the shittiest part of the situation is he has helped others not get into it, or get off. He totally regrets doing it and has helped others not go down the same path. He was clean for about 4 months when he got picked up for a chick o'd'ing about 8 months ago....

at least he's not withdrawing in prison.

RanaldoNecro 03.22.2009 09:36 PM

Regretfully they are coming back
