on the contrary.. personality goes a long way in music, and i can smell the tool all over these guys when i hear them play. vibes from musicians totally effect the sound vibrations coming off of the shit they play. |
I hear what yr saying, but dnt agree. By yr definition, someone cool could never make a bad album, because their coolness would vibrate off their instrument (or voice or whatever). But that's just not true. The coolest ppl have had missteps and bad albums. And to be frank, I'm certain some albums that I love were recorded by total d-bags.
|
Most definitely.
But when you have bands like Blink 182, Britney Spears, or basically anything off of MTV that was a result of the 90s, they don't really do much for their own music. As far as I know. I mean.. theyre voices get all digitally remastered so they sound better, and its hard to tell who exactly write their lyrics and so on and so on. their vibes are really all that they have left thats theres&genuine. you can have a big corperation fuck with your personality and how they want you to act towards the general public, but vibes are so genuine. and theres screams TOOL. The more I go on about this I feel like the less I'm making sense. But its making so much sense in my head, I wish I could convey it correctly. |
Blink-182 have no talent of any kind. At least none that they display. Maybe the drummer is okay. But most drummers in popular bands are okay...
|
They're catchy. That's something going for them!
|
now, that is true.
as soon as i opened this thread i got that snog 'i miss you' with the cello part stuck in my head. |
snog?
|
song..
|
this is all your fault you know! :D
|
BLINK182 can suck my dick.

its sort of like a 'song' but instead of being put out by a group or artist with musical talent its put out by 3 brosefs who probably grew up listening to new kids on the block and color me badd religiously until they got old enough to get REALLY SWEET sleeve tattoos and REALLY AWESOME piercings, then they decided to make their own bad music. |
they seem to bother you more than what I'd consider normal.
|
no..
i was just trying to be a clever cunt.. i really dont mind them at all, but i stand by what i said about them reeking of tool-ness. |
I think they really started to get sad when they wanted to be taken seriously, before that I didn't really mind them. Yeah they were crap but they were better of as a toilet-humor band than the emo wannabe band they became later on.
Good memories though. |
i respect them for trying to do something different, even though it still sucked.

haha. Alright, cool. |

Yeah. I actually liked that "Growing UP" song a lot in high school. But I never bothered to hear a full album. |
"i guess this is growing up"
|
What I learned from this thread:
1. Blink 182 haven't been an ongoing affair these past few years. 2. Michael Stipe is gay. 3. Greedrex is not unwilling to have his knob sucked by multiple men. |
what ever happen to box car racer?
|
All of the jocks/fratboys in training/popular guys that pushed me around and called me "faggot" during my first two years of high school *loved* Blink-182. I realize that this post isn't exactly germane, but it felt appropriate.

yeah jocks made fun of me for liking punk rock while wearing a blink 182 shirt. |

'What's My Age Again?' is a great song. I really mean that too. It was the first song I heard by them, but nothing I heard afterward even remotely interested me.
I somehow knew what this thread was gonna be about simply by reading the title. Today, 90% of my friends on Facebook have posted about the fact that they are thrilled this band is getting back together and/or are joining Blink 182 fan groups. I should have known there would be some kind of evil sarcastic post, mocking my friends, when I arrived here today. |

Agreed. I hate them. |

so is whats my age again. i used to LOVE them when i was in highschool. i listened to their live album many a time there, i said it |
Speaking at the Grammys, Barker cast the reunion in simple terms. "We used to play music together, and we decided we're going to play music together again," he said.
Translation: "Our side projects all sucked even worse (minus, of course, Transplants) than our stuff as Blink and didn't make us any money, so we're reforming to pay the bills." Although, honestly I kinda liked some of the stuff on their last record... |

They each own individual clothing brands that are everywhere and have been for years, right? I don't know about needing any money. Maybe attention? Or maybe they just felt like it. who cares. |
Well, this does increase the chances of all 3 of them getting into a plane crash instead of just 1 of them.....
|
the fuckers who were in the plane crash actually sued the FAMILIES of the pilot and co-pilot! why? why?
|
More publicity for the upcoming reunion?

Damn you got to it. |
Blink-182 had awesome records al the way to Dude Ranch. I just don't care for the ones after that one.
|
Nah.
Cheshire Cat is listenable. It's not, uh, AWESOME. Jesus! ... I'm going to go listen to Milo Goes to College now. |
Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. I guess awesomeness level is relative.
