Just home from London - Rough Trade west advertised itself as opening at 10 am, but actually opened at 8.30. Being a total anorak I was there for the early opening time, and had the place to myself for 15 minutes. Bought the SY splits (which they were selling on a first-come-first-served basis, unlike their backward eastern cousin) and Thrill Jockey compilation LP, and got given four free compilation CDs. Happy happy happy.

I went and bought a used 2pac cd for $5, put middle fingers in the air and yelled "Fuck the world!" as I exited the store and no one noticed. Good day.

Just met Kim and Kelly Deal at Shake It Records!! couldn't buy anything though, I'm broke. But I want that sonic youth/beck thing..

Just got back from Disc Exchange. Wilco was having a signing but they'd only sign one copy of the DVD that just came out and you had to buy that DVD. Fuck that noise!
Purchases: SY/Beck Split SY/Jay Reatard Split (the store only had 2 copies of each split. Which promptly made their way into mine and my friend's hands, leaving some insane hipster that was kissing the camera's ass to ask if they had any more.) El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez-Cryptomnesia (LP-regular release isn't until May) Pixies-Come on Pilgrim CD Blonde Redhead - Slogan/Limited Conversation 7" |
The Thrill Jockey compilation is fantastic. REALLY fantastic.
|
I didn't buy any records today. I made a racket with a mate though, which was awesome. I don't really see the need for this when I've got a standing order at a record store (that's really tragic, isn't it?).
|
I went to the only records store in my town yesterday and there was nothing particularly interesting there so I didn't bother going today. Last week tho I bought four records from there so I've done my share of supporting the fucks at the local for a while.
