Wow, Daniel Lopatin is your friend ? How awesome ! I love his work, especially SKYRAMPS with Mark McGuire. Days of Thunder is one of the best electronic albums I've recently heard (the new Emeralds is also amazing)

yah he added me out of nowhere and I had to do a triple check because I was like "wait -- what?" He apparently has read some of my posts elsewhere and thinks I have interesting and smart things to say so he seeked me out and added me. very awesome of him to find me and add me! I was happy.

I think SKYRAMPS is amazing, better than Emeralds; I'd like to see more OPN/Mcguire collabs.

im changing my mind about my Emeralds statement before in this thread, I dont think Rifts works well as a complete listen, you kinda need to get used to it in small doses before you can listen to an hour of it solid.

Ive not listened to returnal beyond the title track and the Antony remix version, Antony appearing blights it alot more than i thought it would, OPN really doesnt suit the addition of a vocal.

Well, you know Rifts is a compilation, right? That might explain its weird flow.

Yes i know, but its a big lump as a whole package which is why its taken a while for me to tap into it properly, that and a bit of listening neglect

Nothing special. I don't even care about them/him/she/shim having loads of stuff out. Not my problem. Everything I've heard was just alright. Release only your best music, I say.

Just spinning Returnal now, I picked it up when it came out, liked it but didn't give it a proper once over. Really cool stuff, however I dunno of I care for the glitchy stuff between the washes of ambient sound...... I really think this sort of stuff is best at it's most minimal, which leads me to think I should just be spinning Zeit and Moondawn over and over again....... I liked Returnal a lot don get me wrong, but I think I enjoyed Rifts more....... whereas with emeralds I like their new stuff as much or more as previous efforts........

over time ive come to love this stuff more than i ever expected to. I bought a collection of JG ballard short stories around the time i first started listening to Rifts, and the two have melded in my consciousness.

totally different but you should check out Locrian, their last (amazing!!!!) LP was based on The Crystal World, what a great fucking record!!!!
