I find her voice, her music to be incredibly nostalgic and whimsical. I dig it. Somewhat skeptical of her new album, but I'm interested to hear it.
|
The Book of Right On is the only song I can somewhat enjoy.

666. Wonder if that was intentional. I love her so much and freaked out hard when I found out she had a new album AND is coming to Milwaukee -- I already have my tickets and the show is April 2nd. (TCPOT YOU BETTER BE THERE) |
666 whut?
|
Three discs, 6 tracks on each.
6 6 6 |
she's wonderful, and i'm looking forward to the new release-- haven't sought out the pirated leaks or whatever people are listening to.
to cheeto: this is no 10 year old, man. mira: ![]() she's hot, but anyway, that's besides the point of the music-- i'd enjoy beyonce's music if it was all about the ass. but anyway, i'll wait to have a listen, but Y's and milk eye mender are in constant rotation here when i need a sountrack for the mellow post-fuck pre-breakfast time. nothing like making pancakes to the sound of her bjork-twinged harp. |
What's wrong with Byo's ass, now? Before I get the usual '' you fags blah blah'', let me point that both of them are pretty girls, but only one of them would feel the carrot (did I spell it right?) if, in a very distant world, the occasion would arise.

i think you misread, or maybe i wrote confusingly. i worship her fine ass-- i don't like her music. the visual/erotic pleasure of her spectacular culo does not translate into musical enjoyment for me. correspondingly, when i pointed out newsom's hotness, i tried to clarify that i did not intend this to qualify her as a musician. it's just a bonus. and she's no 10-year old. |
Ok, sorry I probably misread. And fantasing about living in Mexico too, at the moment, so I'm not concentrating on what I read enough.

3rd song "Kingfisher" streamed today and I gotta say this is quite different from Ys. (Even though many think it is very Ys-like.)
http://www.dragcity.com/ I fucking love what I've heard so far.....as much as I loved Ys at the time, it now seems claustrophobic compared to what I've heard from HOOM so far. HOOM seems miles ahead.....Ys was too clever, too calculated.....HOOM seems to be flowing, relaxed, natural......I dunno.....that's what I'm hearing so far. And her voice is so much more "normal" here......ironically, that part might seem "calculated", hahahaha...... Can't fucking wait to the 23rd. 2hrs+ of new Joanna in this vain? This is a fucking EVENT! |
I love "Kingfisher". I'm getting really excited about this record now. It kinda sounds like what I imagined Ys was going to sound like based on the descriptions that were going around at the time...which is to say this is what I wanted Ys to sound like.
|
Seriously, I think I'll have a difficult time listening to Ys now.
|
Yeah same. The leap forward in quality is astounding.
|
Seriously...
CAN'T FUCKING WAIT LONGER |
I love it.
|
|
I saw her perform on Later with Jools once and wasn't impressed. She gave off the impression she's a few beers short of a six-pack.
|
leaked, rules

Well now, how the fuck did that happen? I can't wait for this.....but I will. |
this is the best thing of 2010. and I don't think it will be topped... i mean, I'm holding out hope for Panda bear and Ariel Pink, and Autechre, but really, the more I listen to this, the more I doubt I'm gonna hear something better.
In California - Jackrabbits - Go Long is the centerpiece to me. Go Long is actually the best song I've heard in a long time. It's better than MPP and Veckatimest. if HOOM was a 40-minute version of Go Long, it might be album of the century to me. |
oh yeah, this leaked about 27 hours ago, and I've been listening to it for about 11 hours now.
|
fucking love it
|
2 more days.....I can do this.......I can do this, Motherfuckers!!!
This is interesting: http://entertainment.timesonline.co....cle7032768.ece PS: I think I'm gonna play each of the 3 discs about 10x before going to the next disc. Don't know why, really..... |
no skuj, go through it all at once. at least once through the entire thing, before you start skipping around or repeating
|
SO. EX. CITED.
I will wait two days. |

My thinking was, this could be 2x62min CDs vice 3x41min CDs, but she chose the 3x (AHEM.....SAME PRICE AS A DOUBLE, RIGHT?) for some reason.....and I feel that I'm honouring her wishes if I "absorb" each CD at a time? Or....I'm being completely self serving, and this way, it will be like 3 new albums, a week(ish) apart. And THEN, after I have absorbed all 3, I will start taking in the whole Muthafucker as one. Or maybe not. Can you tell that I am fucking excited about this? |
you guys have reason to be excited.
this album is unbelievable. absolutely 'essential' |
I went through it all at once the first 5 times. Now I'm starting to go through them as separate discs. I feel like the 3rd disc is the weak one so far, but I haven't listened to that one by itself yet.
|
i'm having a hard time finding weak spots. it can't be disc 3. Autumn, Kingfisher, and Does Not Suffice are pretty amazing. jeebus, the last 2 minutes of DNS, to close out this album, so very good.
|
several tracks have electric guitar on them
|
yes, the album ends with a feedback loop.
|
i can't remember
|
the guy who murdered dimebag was great.
apparently he showed up at an audition for some local band who wanted a frontman and brought all these sheets of pantera lyrics, and started singing them. and when the band called him out with "dude, wtf those are pantera lyrics" he just denied it and said they were his own. he claimed that pantera were stealing his thoughts and turning them into songs. then he walked on stage and shot everybody. THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS TO BE FUCKING METAL YOU PUSSYS. YOU'RE ALL JUST A BUNCH OF FUCKING EMO POSERS COMPARED TO THAT GUY. |
Seeing her in may

I keep forgetting Does Not Suffice ends with a loop. Kingfisher yes is amazing, and so is Soft As Chalk and Autumn...and I just named half of the disc as being great. And the second disc isn't weak either, and I love EVERYTHING on the first disc (though I've seen people saying they don't like "No Provenance", but I think that's actually one of my faves) so...amazingly consistent album really. |
2nd disc is my fave because In California/Jackrabbits/Go Long is my favorite stretch right now.
|
|
Excitement about a Joanna Newsom release?
What next, creaming yourselves over the new Tori Amos album...? |
sayin'
nice pic though ![]() |
