1) jews don't consider jesus a messiah-- their idea of "the holy land" is different from that of the jesus people--
-- 1a - to jews, the holy land is land that was given to them by god, with license to kill its occupants (read the fucking bible: it's all there). this is a tough concept to sell to most rational people these days.
--1b - to christians, the holy land is holy because that's where jesus was born, made fishes, ate, took a shit, was crucifucked (hello steve). christians throughout history have mostly hated jews and often fixed to massacre them with the excuse of them being "christ killers" (their words, not mine). the crusades weren't cooked up to give the holy land to the jews, but to claim them for christianity. eventually this madness became obsolete.

2) muslims on the other hand consider jesus a prophet, whereas i consider him a fiction. muslims do lay claims on the bible and consider the quran the completion of prior divine revelation. they consider both jews and christians as "people of the book" & religious cousins, so to speak.

Judaism predates Islam and Jesus is considered a prophet within the Islamic religion... so the area of Israel was certainly the Jewish holy land first. It is considered Muslim holy land as well... but all that holy land bullshit is what is causing all this violence and idiocy in the first place. I wish it would just end.

look, there were legal arguments for the creation of the state of israel in 1948, but there have also been endless wars since day 1-- these were mostly in self-defense until 1973-- then israel invaded lebanon in 1982 and it was such a huge clusterfuck of error i can't even begin to describe it. it was israel's vietnam of sorts and when israel's claims to being morally justified were shredded to pieces.

anyway, the state of israel has expanded quite a bit since 1948-- galilee, the golan, then east jerusalem and the west bank/gaza and.. look this was what BRITAIN wanted:



the war of 1948 changed much of that. then there was 1967. the wars with egypt don't count, as those matters are settled.

you realize, the occupation of east jerusalem, the west bank and gaza are NOT legal, right? funny enough, i do think it's a good idea israel stays put in the golan because of strategic reasons-- syria is a dangerous enemy-- but there is no strategic reason to keep fucking the palestinians in the ass. it's at this point a matter of an unholy alliance of militarist politicians and religious extremists having their way with what used to be a decent country.

the fact is, there will be no peace until the israeli lebensraum settlers GTFO of legal palestinian land and everyone returns to the green line borders as much as humanly possible, then figure out what to do with the old jerusalem. it's a bit late for the "right of return", in my misinformed opinion, though there could be compensation---it's 100% impractical to bring back the people who were displaced in the war of 48-49, really. however, giving the golan back to syria would be sheer stupidity.
