I've upped some music today and joined the group. Myspace is indeed a pain in the neck for me and I rarely attend to it these days because it's just slows my pc down too much when I try doing anything. Still good to check other people's music though.

Myspace runs great for me, as long as I leave it in LITE MODE.not already content with ruining band pages, facebook are now removing all third party applications from personal pages which means we won't be able to use those as band pages as we won't be allowed to put songs on them anymore. nice work, we are questioning more and more why we are still here, as should you

Adam, I can see how that might give you a headache. I'm too crap and erratic when it comes to seriously promoting my music and still find it surprising if more than 2 people like what I do, so the minimum effort I have to put into it the better.

Right. I'm in the process of uploading something to the group. So feel free to add to/ subtract from it as and how you like. I'm not sure how best to go about these things, but I've done my bit so I suppose it's up to y'all to squabble over what needs done and so on.

It's a one-take vocal thing to my laptop's crappy mic with Audacity. I added a bit of reverb and made it a bit louder. Hopefully you'll be able to figure out what the lyrics are from the title. I haven't done anything to the pitch of my voice, but I was 'singing' 3 semitones from the very bottom of my range.

Should be exclusive to the SYG group as well. Which'll give those of you who aren't a member an impetus to sign up (he says, laughing at the preposterousness of it all).

Glice, there's a bit at 1:34 of Pumphouse Alpha where you appear to get halfway through a blues motif. Was this a mistake? Were you halfway through, realised what was happening and quickly switched tact or is this a tantalising glimpse at a possible new direction? It's only four notes but it's a true puzzler.

Momentary lapse in concentration. I was on a killer comedown for that gig, so the veil was bound to slip here and there. Can you imagine though - me? The blues? I don't think so.

Glice - I did some work on your vocal track, which I'll up to the group in a couple of hours. It's a start, so if anyone would like to take it from there and add their mark, please go for it.

stumbled upon it last night after finishing a tune which sounds completely different. so I tried my best with recordings I recorded rencently and thought it came out pretty cool. even if its not that long, the idea behind it comes around I think.
but I would love to flesh it out more, or to let it be fleshed out by another one etc.

It's interesting how you've both taken utterly distinct paths with it. I think yours, Mr Shabbray, probably sounds most like it needs 'something' - not to say what you've done isn't good, but that it feels a bit skeletal at the moment (which was hopefully the idea). Herr Deaths' work might be a bit more tricky to work with, as it sounds very close to being a 'finished' work to me (but what would I know etc?)

I was just trying to lay a rythm and some bottom end to it.
dont wanted to do a remix, my intentions are to give it some loopable structure which comes handy for contributors who lke to work that way, maybe. hahaha
I really like what years of the lips has done. already got some ideas how to work it into "my" version.
I think this is going to be a really cool group effort in the end!

On the one hand, it's pure corn. And recorded poorly.

On the other, it's innovative, sometime witty, and the arrangement is well thought out. Good bass line.

It's a freind's, and I know how hard he worked on it, so I can't be objective. On one listen, I'm convinced it's a masterpiece. Another, I think it's crap.

Feedback? And if you do like it, or some aspect of it, by all means drop this sweet-natured, hard-working kid an encouraging comment. It's one of the first things he's done. If you must let the world know you think it's utter shit, you might want to mention in on this thread and not his soundcloud comment box.
