i can't even be bothered listening to the new vivian girls.

RdTv 02.28.2011 09:49 AM

I'm really liking the new Six Organs, The Wire, Malcom and Martin, Sic Alps.....waiting for the new master musicians of bukkake.....

atsonicpark 03.01.2011 10:47 AM

New Six Organs is a LOT better than LUMINOUS NIGHT. Actually might be his best ever, it's definitely up there. Just great. Dunno what the consensus is on it, but for him to release an album this strong this late in his career kinda blows my mind.

New Natural Snow Buildings (WAVES OF THE RANDOM SEA) is alright. After having listened to like 50 hours of this band, I'm pretty burnt out. THey're still good, and this album sounds pretty different than their other stuff, actually. I just haven't been in the mood for it.

Sun Splitter's "II" is a great album. The new Vivian Girls I've listened to probably 10 times, it's simultaneously their weakest album and their strongest. Would've been an AWESOME ep.

Can't wait for the new Jeff Mills album "THE POWER". Otherwise, I'm mostly just excited for the new Obscura, Necrophagist, and Krallice. Wheeeeeee.

Also, that new Pink Reason ep ("Desparate Living") is quite awesome, that might be 2010 though.

New Big Blood album is quite good though Fire on Fire is so much better and I'm very sad about their breakup...

I'm mainly, as usual, looking for any good new 2011 electronic releases. SYRFOX?

atsonicpark 03.01.2011 10:51 AM

ps:

ZAZEN BOYS V, coming soon...

atsonicpark 03.01.2011 11:45 AM

new craig's brother cd is fucking AWESOME

http://www.mediafire.com/?suoo2e2qg1vp70l

fast as hell unbelievably melodic high energy rock stuff. Just amazing basically.

batreleaser 03.01.2011 03:00 PM

the new kurt vile is available for streaming (and mediafire, shh) and is absolutely awesome. listening to it for the 2nd time in a row right now.

atsonicpark 03.01.2011 03:10 PM

yeah i got the new kurt vile 2 weeks ago. it's okay.

atsonicpark 03.01.2011 04:00 PM

cool thanks!

atsonicpark 03.01.2011 04:01 PM

btw is one of your sigs from un chien andalou? it looks like the shot of the moon right before it cuts to the eye being slashed (and then back to the moon)..

Savage Clone 03.03.2011 03:24 PM

Oh god, I loathe the Streets so much.

Genteel Death 03.03.2011 03:50 PM

Various - Do What Thou Wilt: The Satanic Rites of British Rock Delivered From Acetates and Rare Pressings 1970 -1974
No new music on it. One of the best records I happened to buy in a while.

Pelle 03.03.2011 05:50 PM

Honestly, his new record is the best one of all he has ever made.

Unfortunatly it's his last..but i hope he regrets himself and make more stuff. He makes really great music.

batreleaser 03.04.2011 03:22 PM

got back from the gym last night and was tired as hell. took a few advil pms and put on "asleep on the floodpain" while crashing. i dont know how far I got through it but it sent me into the nicest most dreamy sleep ive had in a while. not to say it was boring, just a really good companion to dopey sleeps. im gonna reslisten though. it sounded fantastic though from what i remember.

atsonicpark 03.04.2011 08:42 PM

surprise of the year:
there's a new photek called "avalanche"

it's awesome!

atsonicpark 03.04.2011 10:24 PM

IF YOU're into tech-death, the new obscura album "omnivium" is musically amazing.

Genteel Death 03.04.2011 10:37 PM

That obscura record is alright, nothing special.

atsonicpark 03.04.2011 11:15 PM

I thoguht the bass playing was exceptional, as was the acoustic stuff. The vocals aren't to my liking, but the music is about as good as modern death metal gets, next to Necrophagist. Also, any band named after Gorguts gets a thumbs up from me.

Derek 03.05.2011 08:20 AM

^ yeah man.

atsonicpark 03.05.2011 08:23 AM

oh fuck new tartar lamb is out?!

pad_023 03.06.2011 07:57 AM

New Dum Dum girls ep is catchy as hell.

narlus 03.17.2011 11:50 AM

some favorites so far:

Lifeguards - Waving at the Astronauts
Mogwai - Hardcore will never die but you will
Kurt Vile - Smoke Ring for My Halo
Grails - Deep Politics
Electric Wizard - Black Masses

i'm sure there are more I'm forgetting at the moment.

atsonicpark 03.22.2011 05:37 PM

yeah that new tartar lamb might be my fav

New Kurt Vile is so boring, and I've been a huge fan for a while..

atsonicpark 03.22.2011 05:41 PM

actually.. so far..

favs of the year
nicholas jaar - space is only noise
alvarius b - baroque primitive
longmont potion castle - vol 8
tartar lamb - polyimage of known exits
daughters of the sun - ghost with chains
peaking lights - 936
wire - red barked tree
sean mccann - capital
neighbor - in our time
obscura - omnivium
new six organs
chain & the gang - down with liberty rules
gentleman jesse - introducing rules
photek - avalanche
la sera - st
sun splitters - ii
new craig's brother
new daniel striped tiger
burzum - valen
volcano the bear - hotbites live at the nightlight

was most disappointed with the new kurt vile, deerhoof, vivian girls (after a few listens, it really isn't nearly as good as their other albums. Oh, don't get me wrong, it would make a great ep, cuz half the songs are the best they've ever done, but the other half flat-out blow. I have a good feelnig the next album will rule), and radiohead (though they havent made a truely great album in a decade). new natural snow buildings and tim hecker were alright -- overrated. looking forward to new necrophagist, gorguts, jeff mills, zazen boys, and pink reason. Haven't heard as much this year as I usually do, definitely looking for some more electronic-type music, and death metal...

.........

anyone heard the new strokes? "angles"? I LOVE their first 2 albums, I thought the last one was junk.

Derek 03.22.2011 06:04 PM

That Burzum joint is called 'Fallen' I'm sure.

Oh and Pink Reason's Desperate Living 7" is on soulseek if you haven't heard it by ze way.

atsonicpark 03.22.2011 06:08 PM

yeah I mentioned it last page. but he's releasing an album-album soon, too, righ? that 7" doesn't have much to it.

While looking up info on it, I found a great blogspot post..

Kevin said... Anyone who downloads this can order the record directly from the band by paypaling 7$ to basicallytina@yahoo.com with your address and a little note telling us which record you want. Otherwise, you can donate what you want for the digital copy. I am very poor and don't like thieves.
-Kevin Failure (Pink Reason)

PAULYBEE2656 03.23.2011 09:51 AM

daughters of the sun????
for a moment there i thought i had a legal battle as my former band was daughters of the swan.......... theyre so lucky toying with irish no wavers!!!! :-)

Dr. Eugene Felikson 03.25.2011 05:02 AM

So far my favorites have been SYR 9, the new Deicide, and Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby.

Is Gold Cobra still dropping this month? I know they started mastering the final tracks already, but apparently they recorded so much material that they don't know what to put in the final cut.

hipster_bebop_junkie 04.04.2011 04:03 PM

I thought this might be of interest for some people here. Panda Bear's new album, "Tomboy", is currently streaming in its entirety on NPR:

http://www.npr.org/2011/04/04/134987...da-bear-tomboy

batreleaser 04.05.2011 07:20 PM

bill callahan "apocalypse" is as good as ay fan would expect. i just dont really dislike anything callahan or smog related.

Stijn 04.06.2011 11:32 AM

yes! just heard 'baby's breath" and loved it

hirsute_biped 04.07.2011 08:30 PM

am i the first here to note J Mascis: Several Shades of Why (with lettering by Kim Gordon), or is that just to obvious?

Also, Earth: Angeles of Darkness, Demons of Light I

Davy Graham and Shirley Collins: Folk Roots, New Routes (new reissue of 60's LP on 4 men w/ beards)

Ecstatic Music of the Jemma El Fna (sublime frequencies) that was this year wasn't it? maybe not...

SYR9 rules, very encouraging

I just ordered Pentagram: If the Winds Would Change (Svart), but it won't be here for weeks, but when it does get here, it will be awesome!

I'm probably forgetting something awesome...

batreleaser 04.07.2011 09:24 PM

had no idea about new alvarius b. thanks for the heads up bra.

batreleaser 04.07.2011 09:29 PM

atsonicpark, i too love the first two (especially room on fire) strokes records, and sadly, the new one is pretty garbage. i think albert should just do more solo records.
