Hull is the best city in the UK for getting laid and using the words 'scutter' and 'twocker'. Otherwise I'm at a loss for its merit.

I voted Stokey, because I looked at many a house there and always failed to move in.

How much is the average rent per month for bedsits and two-room flats in london?

Alex's Trip 08.01.2006 02:54 PM

Mars...I hear they have some good candy bars...

it totally depends on what area you live in, what the place is like and how lucky you are.

Phlegmscope 08.01.2006 08:00 PM

Well, what's your share of the rent? And how many people do you live with?

I'll be moving next week and I'm gonna live in a two-room apartment with one flatmate at least the first year. It's quite tiny place and I have to pay about £170 a month, which is expensive. Of course the financial support for students cover the majority of that during semester.

I now live in an apartment owned by a relative so I get it for insanely cheap, otherwise the rent is somewhere around £385. This is of the same size than the place I'm moving to.

Toilet & Bowels 08.01.2006 08:42 PM

well unless you wanted to live in an exceptionally dodgy neighbourhood in london (which you don't) then i'd say there's no way you'd be able pay £170/month. most students i know pay in the region £70 or £80/week. that is if you want to live fairly centrally. the person i know paying the least rent pays £60/week, but she lives on top of a pub and has no insulating so the noise leeks through.
actually i know someone how was living in one of the nastiest parts of london and he was paying £30/week and had rats that would come into his room while he was sleeping and stuff.

Phlegmscope 08.01.2006 09:39 PM

Are those prices you mentioned the rent in total or just one resident's share?
My future hometown is quite far from the capital city region, where the rents are obviously higher. There the rents (of non government subsidised flats at least) are probably getting closer to that level (if you're talking about the total rent, that is).

But yeah, I guess I must consider myself lucky as my rent is covered plus I get around £135/month for fulfilling compulsory needs. Also this not a student loan, which is whole another issue, here every post-secondary level student is entitled to this benefit.

Well, there's a few murder miles that i know of and one of them is Leah Bridge Road in Leyton. When i lived there it seemed normal to hear of people getting shot.Did you know that Derek Bailey lived near you for years before he decided to move to Barcelona?

cuetzpalin 08.02.2006 07:06 AM

you should move to czech republic :D :p

Cantankerous 08.02.2006 07:53 AM

Toilet & Bowels 08.02.2006 08:01 AM
